The only way to really keep it is keep responding to and starting to discussions under that interest. I don't think the level you're at itself is likely to go down, but the rank you have out of other users will fluctuate based on activity.
I have a couple of rankings I'm kind of proud of, and I'm always trying to work on those!

Sounds good. Of course, now I've gone up in ranking! I guess I should slow down on this Topic if I want to stay at 13.

I wonder if there is a base number of people that have to be in a Topic first?

I have no idea how to lock in rankings, but I'm wondering the same thing as you. I'm ranked in I believe 6 different topics, and one of those I'm ranked #1. I would guess that you keep putting in your input on those topics, and be one of the top discussors, but that's just my reasoning and guessing.
