Photojournalism is a form of journalism that creates images in order to tell a new story. Many of us had enjoyed taking pictures, right? But are we really sure if our pictures are good enough? Here are the Qualities of a good photo. first: Prominence second: Human interest- this covers many aspects because there are pictures that show emotions which readers can relate to,human interest photos are usually very interesting.Human interest photos may involve: *Action- Because action speaks louder than words. *Drama- picture of accidents, fires, flood wrecks caused by an earthquake. *Oddity- oddities and extreme characteristics. third: Timeliness- as in new stories, timeliness enhances the value of a picture. TIPS FOR ASPIRING PHOTOJOURNALISTS 1.Know your camera well 2.Take your camera with you wherever you will go. 3.Do not hesitate to ask the subjects of your photo to do what you believe will produce the best picture. 4.Take more than one shot every scene and let the editor select the best shot. 5.Be on the lookout to shoot an unusual picture. 6.If possible, avoid the handshaking,or posed typed of picture. 7.Make sure that your photos are suited for reproduction. 8.If you can not decide whether to take picture or not, take it. *I've learned this in our English class and i just want to share it with you*

The factors you mention are important but the photo should be the truth. There are many photos out there that were staged or altered. Several have been printed in major media outlets. The most receint is one of Senator Obama with his face darkened. Good suggestion and it is always helpful to review the basics.

Thanks for sharing. Been doing photography for more than ten years now. It's nice to have additional knowledge and/or be reminded of the proper way to do it. Keep on sharing.

Very interesting! Thanks for sharing! I've taken a lot of photography courses, but never any regarding photojournalism. I've just recently developed an interest in photojournalism and plan on taking a college photojournalism course and probably do some workshops too!
