A 35 year old woman having a phobia (from childhood beatings) refused to leave the bathroom for around 2 years... most of that time on the toilet. Her skin began to grow around the toilet seat and her legs appear to have become atrophied.
the poor woman had to have the seat pried off the toilet and taken to the hospital with her where it was removed from her flesh.
This happened in Wichita KS.

This is sad. Especially sad that she had a phobia that really prevented her from leaving the bathroom. I can see why she stayed in there, but I can't believe he didn't try to get help for her sooner. I mean, her obviously not wanting to leave the bathroom screams that something isn't right for me.

Yeah they were talking about whether or not to press charges on the boyfriend on top of it from what I heard earlier tonight.

do you think charges should be filed?
The lady decided not to leave - at what point does it become a necessity to get her out of there?
if he does not call by the time a week passes - is he liable?
a month?
maybe he needs psych help too : /

I honestly don't think charges should be pressed against the boyfriend. I'm sure they both had mental problems to deal with and didn't know what to do in this situation. I'm glad he finally sought help for her though.

Oh my. I feel sorry for this woman. I honestly don't know what else to say about it. So sad.

Yeah I heard about this tonight. My boyfriend was listening to it while I was in the bedroom watching Deal or No Deal. I said why did she do that. He told me it was because she didn't want to see her family. Sad to hear something like this. The woman is only in her 30's and will be wheel chair bound & will need physical therapy for the rest of her life. They are also going to take her to a psychiatric hospital to find out if she is having complications.

I heard about that on the radio this AM but am glad that you provided the link to the story here because, I had to turn down the radio while it was on so, I only heard a part of it. I was at the drive-thru window at my Starbucks and was giving my attention to them, not the radio as I think that is rude.
That is crazy. I just could not imagine staying anywhere that long. I need to get out and explore and have fun. I barely even like to hang out on the toilet for the time it takes me to do #2. Sheesh! 2 years would make me go bonkers!
