Isn't it funny how we forget the sounds of spring and summer during the winter months? This morning I woke up because I heard a strange sound and what it was was birds chirping outside my bedroom window! Yesterdays weather said today was going to sunny and in the 40's but I never even thought about birds because I haven't heard or seen one since probably last fall. I forgot how sweet and peaceful it can be waking up to them in the morning. I didn't realize how much I've missed it during the winter until this morning and it started my day off on a good note....for a change. Although we are expecting a bad weekend with snow and sleet (and it's Easter to boot!). Just the sound of those birds has given me some hope that there are better days to come and that Spring is just around the corner. Are the birds chirping where you live? Did you forget how sweet they sound? Can the sound of birds chirping just make your day?

Yes it is a lovely sound which means that Spring is here. I get the cooing of doves outside my window, collared doves and wood pigeons calling to their mates.

I love to hear doves cooing. That's something we don't experience here in the city.

Lillies - Flowers growing in my patio.
I am very lucky as I live in Southern California and the birds stay during winter. However, you don't hear them sing as much as in the spring, and summer.

yesterday was really the first day that i saw and heard some birds of this year. i saw a beautiful red cardinal and even my first robin of the season - (these are the first birds that come back to canada after the winter - so that means that spring is on its way...YAY!)

Hi ctry....isn't it wonderful? I did notice this about two weeks ago, in the middle of scraping all this ice off my car windows. I had to stop for a moment to listen, and there they were, just chirping away, and it certainly put a smile on my face. Here I was, in a miserable mood complaining and mumbling to myself about how sick I was of all this weather, and lo and behold, the little chirps just brought some sun to my life on an otherwise dismal day. I love it, and yea, I so hope Spring is right around the corner for everyone! It just seems like such a long drawn out winter this year.....take care hon.
