The camping season is rapidly coming down upon us. I’m so ready for it too. My husband and I have been married for 25 years. I think we have been camping a total of 3 times within those 25 years. We always talked about going but never could seem to find the time.
Since we finally bought our boat and are getting closer to retirement we are planning many more camping trips beginning very soon. The next trip in fact is coming up this next camping season. I don’t know where we will go yet, but I know this year will be the beginning of a many more camping seasons to come.
I’ve already started making a checklist of things I have to get ready. I like to be prepared so the list is on the table and I’m checking things off as I begin to put camping gear into boxes and crates.
It’s important to make a list of things you will need while camping. Nothing is worse than getting out into the bush, away from all civilization only to realize you didn’t pack the Coleman stove or better yet, matches to light it.
There you sit with a cooler full of fresh meat ready to start cooking out and you realize you didn’t pack silverware of worse, toilet paper.
When camping season finally rolls around you want to make doubly sure you have gone over your list at least a dozen times. Make sure you have packed kitchen items, bathroom items, toiletries, personal hygiene items, emergency medical kit and all of the essential things.
You want to take some thing you might not think about until you find you need them. You will probably need a rake and shovel. Yes, I said a rake and shovel. You might need to rake out the area where you place your tent. You might need the shovel to dig a fire pit if the campsite allows open fires. If they don’t allow fires, you will certainly need means to cook what food you plan to cook, unless you want to eat sandwiches or canned tuna.
Last but not least, if you have a cell phone be sure the battery is charge before you take out for the unknown. Some locations will require you hike to the top of the nearest hill or you might possibly have to drive a few miles to get cell phone coverage. None-the-less, they are good thing to have just in case. If you don’t have a cell phone you might consider a Go-Phone just for such occasions. You never know when the need might arise.
Finally, enjoy the camping season. If you forget something, don’t panic. Just make a note to add it to your list of items for the next trip. Be safe and have fun. Get out and enjoy our country and the beauty that waits for you.

I hope we get to go camping this year, it has been way too long and I don't count camping in the back yard as a camping trip..

I love getting the RV packed and ready. It's like a mini move, with the old standby home to come back to.
I'm sooooooo ready to go.

I grew up camping with my family, and when I met my hubby, found out his family were big campers too! So we naturally we fell right into it when we got married.
We do three types of camping every year....
First, we share a camper with hubby's family that is parked permanently at a campground. We love going there because we hardly have to take anything with us except for food, towels and sleeping bags. All the other "stuff" is already there.
Second, we own a hunting camp with my brother and his wife. We don't go there as often as a family because it is very, very rustic... only an outhouse, no running water, and no electric. The guys use it a lot during hunting season, and we go up maybe once or twice a year overnight as a family, but that's about it.
Third, we go tent camping over the 4th of July every year with a whole gang of friends. Of course, we need to take everything then!
So I have three different lists made up for what we need to take for each different kind of camping we do. Makes things much, much easier!
Enjoy your camping this year!

I'm chomping at the bit to go. I don't care what we do, where we go or how many people are around. Just give me the great outdoors, a tent, a fire and some good hot morning coffee and I'm happy.....
It's always a bit nicer inside the RV though. I'm ready.
