Why do people put referral links in my discussions when I ask them not to?

I swear. I just do not understand. I clearly ask that they not put a referral link because I really want the information so, I don't want to have the discussion deleted and end up without any answers. They turn right around and put their link in my discussion anyway! Some of them have been a member for a long time and they should know better! I guess they don't care because it's not their discussion and it's not going to hurt them any. Does this happen to you? What do you do about it?

I hit that exclamation point and type in "Please remove referral link" and myLot staff obliges. Then, if the person who spammed my discussion is on my friend list and a newbie, I PM them a polite message pointing to the guideline violated, or if they should have known better, then I just delete them. A few people don't actually understand what referral links are or how that is a violation of the rules, but most of them do, so before biting their heads off, I like to check, as I was a pretty clueless newbie here not that many months ago myself. On the other hand, some people are just jerks.

Please understand that some people want to have more referrals badly. And it doesn't bother me. Just let it be and I don't mind to it.

It hasn't happened to me yet but I'd be upset too. The rules are pretty clear about that. I think they should only delete that person's comment and maybe enforce a fine...like deduct a certain amount from their earnings. I'll bet that would stop the offenders.

I think I know what you are talking about. It was either yesterday or the day before when someone made a one or two sentence comment in one of my discussions and then they put a link to their website into that post and it had absolutely nothing to do with my topic. I think it got deleted but, I am not sure. What the heck? Why would you do that to someone. My understanding is that you can post links in responses to discussions as long as they have something to do with the topic at hand. This was a referral link...I think...to the website they had just started. I was annoyed and didn't know how to handle it so I just ignored it and didn't even respond to him or her.
