I Did It!

Homemade Bread -
I finally attempted to make homemade bread after many, many years.

This is the very first loaf of bread I made that turned out right - yea me!

I've used a bread machine before, but that's just not the same.

I love homemade bread and have tried making my own several times in the past, but I never get it to come out right. I'm the same way with making candy - I have no patience and try to rush things, thinking 'it'll be ok'. Of course, it never is. I haven't tried bread in probably 10-12 years (other than a bread machine, and that's not the same) but last night I decided to give it another go. It came out great! I made two loaves and let me tell you, it made wonderful toast this morning. I'm ready to venture further and try different variations. I'd like to make a cheese bread (was going to put some shredded cheddar in one of the loaves last night, but I forgot), and maybe an oatmeal bread too. I think that would be great with peanut butter and a cup of raspberry tea. So .. if you make your own bread, what kinds do you make?

Hey Ldy Congrats on the home made bread. I love homemade bread too but my hands don't let me. I can't kneed it any more. I like all kinds of bread ,Jewish rye pumpernickel 5 and 9 grain breads. I like the home made style bread that I can get form the bakery in the Publix grocery store. It's the best since I can't make it any more. Home made has such good texture. Good luck with your future bread ventures

I like to make my own bread! Once in a while I will make a yeast bread, most of the time we make a pizza dough with the yeast and a bread made without yeast! I like to make banana bread and my son likes to make coffee cake style bread! I have made many types, including sourdough bread baked in a glasstube! It turned out just like store-bought, only better! I still find a certain flour to be much better in baking products and make the best tasting breads and doughs!

I make banana bread and pumpkin bread all the time, but I've never been able to master the yeast breads, so this was a big accomplishment for me. I used regular white flour that I had on hand, but now I think I'll buy bread flour and wheat flour and experiment with different kinds.

I can tell you the best flour I ever used! It was King Arthur Organic white whole wheat! The company has quite a variety of flours and products for baking! The flour is so good and it has fiber since it is whole grain!
