If you know a few secrets and tricks, you can customize your mylot profile with ease.
You should begin by using a myspace editor to find or design your layout. You need to careful in choosing an editor as some work better than others for this purpose.
There are two editors which I found work well, I will discuss these editors and give step by step instructions for using them with mylot. I will also discuss how to add music, banners and other such goodies to your profile.
If you would like to jazz up your profile, but do not want to spend time creating a layout, then I recommend, My Cool Chaser......http://www.coolchaser.us/
This site has many premade layouts to choose from.
To use, My Cool Chaser, with mylot, follow these steps:
1. Search through the available layouts and choose the one that you would like to use.
2.Click to preview the layout. Take a mental note of the colors used on the tables in the layout.
3. In mylot, click, edit profile
4. Click, 'edit', on your html sortie to open it. (if you do not have an html sortie, you can add one by clicking, 'add content', at the top of the page, then selecting, html, then clicking, 'add item')
5. Go back to My Cool Chaser and click, 'get code', on the layout that you selected. Copy the code
6. In mylot, paste the code in the space provided in your html sortie. Be sure to type the word, 'transparent', into the boxes that asks for background color and for border color, within your html sortie. Then click, 'save changes'
7. Now, go to each sortie on your page, one by one. Click 'edit'
8. Where it says, 'background color', select the same color or similar color as shown for the tables of your selected layout when you previewed the layout.
9. Do the same for the font colors, then click, 'close edit'.
10. Now your layout should be in place and should look very similar to the layout that you selected.
If you would like to design your own layout to use, then I recommend Pimp My Area profile editor..........http://www.pimpmyarea.com/profileeditorv2/index.php
To use this editor with mylot, follow these steps:
1. Follow the steps to design your layout in the editor. (choose your background, table colors and opacity, (see through), percentage, and font size and styles, however, don't bother with things like tweaks for hiding extended network banners or other such things that do not apply to mylot)
2. In mylot, click, 'edit profile'.
4. Click, 'edit', on your html sortie
5. Go back to Pimp My Area editor and check the box that says, 'show/hide code'
6. Copy the code
7. In mylot, paste the code into the space provided in the html sortie. Be sure to type the word, 'transparent', into the boxes that ask for background color and for border color., then click, 'save changes'.
8. Now go to each sortie on your page, one by one. Click 'edit'
9. Where it says, 'background color', select the same or similar color as you did for the tables when designing your layout.
10. Do the same for font colors, then click, 'close edit'.
11. Now your own personalized layout should be in place.
To add a music player, banners or any other widgets or gadgets to your profile, add another html sortie and enter the code into the space provided. Always remember to type the word, 'transparent', into the boxes that ask for background color and for border color in any html sortie if you want what's in it to show, but nothing else. For a good music player, I recommend playlist .com........http://www.playlist.com/
Finally, know that sometimes you may have to do some things more than once before they save. This is not because you did anything wrong, it is because sometimes mylot has gliches and does not save correctly the first time. Therefore, you occassionally have to do some things more than once in order to get them to stick.
So there you have it! Easy, step by step instructions for customizing and beautifying your profile! Give it a try and have fun! If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
