Is your beagle high maintenance?

My grandma has a male beagle and for the most part he is really lazy. He's overweight cause my uncle gives him table food. Anyways, sometimes when we come home from being out all day he will run around the house like 10 times cause he's so excited we're home. She had another beagle like 10 years ago and my grandma had gotten my uncle one of those oversized valentines cards and it had a beagle on it and our dog was so mad, growling and wouldn't let my uncle go near it. Then he stole the candy from the valentines box and hid them in my grandmas pillows.

all beagles i know are pretty hyper, always so full of energy
