india is a underdevelop country.. and roads are very poor.. because the material used for making them are not at all good.. their is a reason for this.. if 1crore rupees is sanctioned to lay a road 50% is distributed among the area leaders and contractors and 25% wages for labours and 25% for the materials.. they dont go for 25% for material because again their will not be a chance to earn money as easy if best material is used...... these contractors and area leaders are making money by these things.

There are good roads (Most National High Ways). There are bad roads (Including some national highways)They are bad because they are not laid property or due to natural calamities and incesscent rains and due to heavily laden vehicles (Trucks and lorries) commuting in a big way. There are ugly roads which has not yet caught the attention of road makers. Lastly there are no roads (remote areas where people live) because they do not have godfathers who can deliver roads for them. By and large, for the last 5 years, Indian Roads are reasonably ok. If 1 Crore Rupees is sanctioned for road making, 25% of it goes for kickbacks, 25% salaries, 25% goes for misuse of materials.
