Will you get rid of some food because of pregnancy?

When I was pregnant, I paid attention to my diet as I knew it's quite important for the baby. Due to it, I got rid of some junk food like potato chips and soda water. Everyday I make sure myself will drink a cup of milk and have a kind of fruit and eat an egg. This is very helpful to have a healthy baby.

That's what you are suppose to do and it is one of the reasons I am soooo glad I will never have kids.I don't drink milk. I don't eat vegetables and I do eat chips and drink soda. So I would have to give up everything I love for a baby I don't even want.

No I will not. I never wanted a baby and that won't change. I am not going to start eating vegetables either.

I gave up my soda during my pregnancy. Boy, that was difficult - I cut cold turkey and had miserable headaches. That was a hint I was drinking too much soda. I will be honest, I tried to eat better, but I didn't give up my chips. I was also so sick for most of it, that I ate whatever would stay down. I couldn't even get an egg close to me - the smell was horrible. My husband had to take an electric skillet and make his eggs outside so I couldn't smell it. The same when he made his coffee. I did take my giant vitamin that my doctor told me to take. That didn't stay down either, but I tried.

I did the same thing during my pregnancy... i drank less and less soda... and drank more and more milk or ate more milk products... eventhough i hated drinking milk... and i made it a point to eat a fruit or two everyday... and thank God... my baby was born very healthy... and she still is... We definitely need to pay careful attention to our diet when we are pregnant... because we are eating for two people during that time...

Hello dear youless. It is the same with my wife. She was very careful not to eat anything that was bad for the baby while she was pregnant. Even when she got sick, she would not take any medicine, but let it get recovered naturally. My wife paid a lot of attention to this and I appreciate her for being so considerate. During the pregnancy, balanced diet is always needed to pay special attention to. Thanks very much for your discussion, youless.

lol..me too...I was quite wary of taking any medicines too...even when my husband (who is a pharmacologist) would give the green signal. I'd rather go through the pain and some uncomfortable feeling than pop a pill. But I did have to take some pills with my second when I broke out into a rash and terrible itching....I tried to control it for a day and half thinking it would subside on it's own...but it didn't...and I had to take a pill.

Hello both of my friends. Yeah, I have to say that my wife is regarded as my dear and respected queen without being offended for ever. lol It is true indeed that when one is pregnant, she always tries to avoid any medication unless a special case happens. Thank you both, my dear friends.

Of course I will! I'll do anything my ob-gyn will say just to make sure my baby will be fine. In fact, when I was pregnant, even if the doctor says it's okay to take this food or drink this medicine, I try to avoid it if I feel it will not be good for my baby. I increased my water, dairy and fruits intake (even if my stomach rejects it, lol), and rested a lot. I didn't ate any single chips. I'm so happy when baby came out fine and healthy.

i changed my entire eating habits when i was pregnant because the prenatals made me ill, and i refused to take them. instead i had a nutrionist make me a list of the nutrients i needed to have extra in my diet to supplement food for the vitamns.

I was very careful with my diet when I was pregnant....no soda drinks...no tea or coffee (not that I had a lot before I was pregnant....but I totally stopped when I was). I would always have a glass of milk a day...so I just increased the quantity...and had an egg daily. I would have lots of yogurt too. With my second pregnancy, I also had a whey protein drink (which my husband specially made for me....with more protein than flavour...it was yuck! but I had it for my baby's sake). My taste in food has always been healthy...so it was easier that way....and the only difference was that I was hungry all the time...so I ate a lot more. I also had a lot of sea food.

lol...me too....but the first time round, I couldn't get anything I wanted to eat...because I didn't know how to cook and we were not staying with family. I survived on rice, yogurt and spicy pickles....and sometimes my husband would take me out to have proper meals. With the second one though, I got to eat everything I wanted....I could cook by then and I also went to my mother's a little earlier and she cooked everything I wanted....and needless to say, I put on much more weight with my second pregnancy than my first...and I never thought I would get back to my original weight...but now 15 months later, I'm back to my original size...hooray!

When I was pregnant back in the 1960s, they said we could not eat any chocolates and we had to cut out on salt. I was willing for the second, but I could not understand about the first. Now that was when there were no healthy salt substitutes (I was in an unwed mother's home) and the food tasted horrible. The trouble was that we could still have pop or soda water. If I could get pregnant now, I would cut out the white flour stuff, and have whole grains. Back then there was that much choice and people actually felt that white bread and margarine was healthy and butter was bad for you.

Today it seems eating some chocolates are beneficial for pregnant women. So the diet seems to be different when time goes by.

I guess this is true for all cultures and religions when it come to diet for a pregnant woman. It is of utmost importance that the diet be altered during the pregnancy period. This is to ensure a healthy baby when it is born as the nutrients that the baby takes from the mum, comes almost directly from the source -- food that the mum eats. Even after the baby is born, the diet of the mum still has to be catered to for a period of time to ensure that she is nursed back to health. So I guess when my turn comes, I will have to take extra care of my wife's diet to ensure both mother and child is healthy.

I drank milk everyday too. Most times I would eat plenty of veggies and fruits for the baby's sake and take my prenatal vitamin so that she would get her nutrition. I tried to avoid sweet foods or anything with too much sugar as it raised my blood sugar levels to dangerous heights. I almost got gestational diabetes. Plus I cut out all caffiene. And then drank tea after she was born. Much healthier.

Well with every pregnancy I was a gestational diabetic so I had always watched what I ate. I tried to cut out caffiene but I was advised by my obgyn not to because when I did I was getting migranes so bad I was puking until I was going into preterm labor. LOL!! I have a history of chronic migraines so they are very careful for a number of reasons with me . One I'm a highrisk because of gest. diabetes. and two I have had toxemia twice. So my diet does change for the better most of the time.

I believe so. My baby's health is more important now than what I like and love to eat. Because honesly, I also like junk and I won't feed my baby junk.

yeah, I will do it, though now I am single! Family is one of the most important things in our life, and child is the key role of our family! we should avoid some junk food when we are pregnant, just because she/he is part of our life! In life we often have to make some decision. we should weigh it, and then insist to the important one while giving up the other one though we have the favor for it! It is somehow like the example of mine! I like plants and flowers so much! But some of them are poisioning and not good for our health, so I could not put in my bedroom. You were doing right! Eating more fruit, vegetables, milk and eggs were good for you and now must bring you happinee as you are having the smart, clever, lovely and healthy baby! Wish you enjoy your family! ^_^ ^_^
