Dont You Just Get Tired....??

Don't you get sick and tired of Randy and Simon and sometimes even Paula spouting about how the song was "too big" for one of the singers or, case in point, what Randy said Tuesday night to David Archeleta. Randy-"You know dude I just think about how Stevie did it and it just wasn't good" How Stevie Wonder did the song? In a studio? Where you can sing it, mix it, throw parts away, add instruments in digitally and any other thing a singer can't do in a live performance! Yes he did stumble over a couple words but I mean, give me and David and countless dozens of others these judges have said this to a break! These kids are not Whitney or Stevie, or Kelly Clarkson even, but they are having to sing their songs or choose lesser known artists songs and then risk being belittled for choosing something beneath them! I guess that is the one thing I like better about Nashville Star over American Idol (don't get me wrong, I love them both)is the fact that at some point in Nashville Star they have to sing their own creation, a song that was written or co-written by themselves. I think this is the one thing that seperates the real stars from the "just singers" category. Kelly Clarkson has made it very big, Kelly writes some of her songs! Carrie Underwood (wow, who knew!)is a huge star! Carrie has started writing songs which a couple are on her new album. I believe the creative side of the whole thing is what keeps the star power going! Of course there exceptions to every rule, George Strait for example!

American Idol has to be the biggest joke on TV. Who the heck is Randy or Simon, and come on Paula, a has been. Paula would vote for a ham sandwich if it had dreamy eyes. If you cannot tell I do not watch America Idol anymore. I stop watching after that Rubin guy won over Clay. Who's career has gone farther? To prove my point about American Idol being a joke think about the win a couple a years back, the guy with the gray hair. Ford had him stop singing for them. The guy could not ever sing a commercial song, why did anyone let him win. Remember Justin he almost beat Kelly and if it had been up to Paula he would have. I hear he is being used as a mop right now, and he is doing better than his singing career.

Gewcew, Yeah, Rubin was a real joke as far as I'm concerned, and Clay had ten times the talent not to mention a better voice, but since that second season there have been several stars born out of that show. Would we have ever had Carrie Underwood if it hadn't been for Idol? What I enjoy so much about the show is watching raw talent start out at week one and see who has the determination and wherewithall to learn and step-up their game so to speak and really show profound improvement! There are some that America keeps around that can't sing as good as I can which I don't understand but all in all for the most part America usually choose right! Oh, and you are right, Simon and Randy wouldn't know a good singer/performer if he/she bit them in the butt! And Paula??? Well I think she needs to start an alchohol program!

i have to agree, sometimes they seem to be pretty petty but oh i guess that is what makes the show...i heard on tv that this is one of the most watched tv shows on tv..so i guess we are in the minority!

Even with all of the remarks that Randy and Simon make I still believe it is a Godsend to many aspiring young singers. This show is the best thing to happen to family TV in a long, long time! If it ever goes away America will suffer a sad loss to its entertainment industry! I would just like them to judge the singers by their singing, not by how someone else sang the song. Look at what happened a couple weeks back; David Cook arranged and sang a Lionel Ritchie song. Now we all know Lionel is one of the "chosen few" of Paula and Randy but after David sang they were almost speechless! Even Lionel Ritchie called the next day wanting to take David to record that version of the song immediately and was livid when 19 productions nixed it! I believe the judges being to judgmental make some potentially great singers shy away from some songs that could be just as good if not better than what David Cook did with Lionel's song!

Perfectly said! Another thing also is that these young contestants have not herd a lot of the old time songs and they are given such a short amount of time to learn it, feel it and try to master the song. All the judges need to stop making comparisons to the original singers. Great post!
