If either of these idiots(that goes for McClain, too)were to actually get elected President, how long do you think it will take before someone assassinates them? I don't think either would last more than 6 months. Some skinhead would surely take them out. What do you think?

I don't doubt that some will want to assassinate them. I just have a bit more confidence in our secret service than that. There were attempts on the lives of both Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush and neither succeeded. Presidents are always dealing with the threat of assassination. I think many attempts are stopped before they actually happen.

Yes, they actually managed to keep Bush alive, and he is probably one of the most hated man on earth. Not a detail I would have liked to have drawn.

Oneidmnster, I don't think you understand what the secret service is. They put their lives in danger every day. It's their job to literally take any bullet aimed at the person they protect and kill anyone who attacks their charge. They are not cops. You don't just fill out an application, go to Secret Service academy, and get put in charge of the president's safety. Only the best of the best are put into that position. Anyone not willing to risk their lives to save the president, would NOT get that job.

Then again, the secret service might not want to put their lives in that much danger. They may not try too hard to protect either of them.

There is talk among the democrats about a Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton ticket. I don't have any idea who McCain's running mate would be but let's just say the democrats win with either of the afore-mentioned tickets. If what you say will happen happens then both Obama and Clinton will be killed leaving the office of president to (good Lord, perish the thought) Speaker of the House, Nanci Pelosi! I don't like that scenario either!

I believe McCain is waiting to see who wins the democrat nomination. He'll need a running mate to difuse either Obama's racial advantage, or Hillary's gender. He may even take a big risk and take a democrat like John Kerry as a running mate. That would earn him votes from democrats while hardcore Republicans would still vote for him because both democrats are too extreme.

D**n, never thought of that one! But John Kerry, man? I and about a million other Viet Nam era veterans get deathly ill when his name is mentioned! But a democrat on a republican ticket? Did American say something about change?

Why? I know he earned multiple purple hearts, a bronze star, and a silver star during Vietnam. Is it because of the stories that he didn't really deserve those medals? I'm not accusing or trying to argue, I'm just curious since I thought he was much less extreme or irritating as Clinton or Obama.

I really am not a big political person. But I have to agree... and so do my 14 year old girls... that either one of these two will probably be assasinated earlier in there terms!

Yes both Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama have different issues to worry about as far as safety, than say John Edwards would, but we are not picking cotton in Alabama any more. Although some would like us to be, and we don't stay in the kitchen barefoot and pregnant either, although some would like us to do that too. If woman and African Americans don't stake their claim which they are legally entitled to, idiots like the KKK win. I hope you're wrong, but even if they get assasinated, it was worth the risk, in my opinion to make the advances they both will.

They're not legally entitled to be president. They are entitled to run for the presidency. That's been done by woman and black Americans before so it's really nothing new. This is just the first time a woman and a black American have had a realistic chance at winning.

I think this is a frightening and dangerous thing to even mention. No offense, but I prefer not to even think about things like this having lived through both of the Kennedy assassinations and the Martin Luther King assassination. That having been said, since you think this sort of thing is so likely, how do you explain George W. Bush's safety all these years? Annie

That's a good point. He isn't just hated, he has made an enemy of terrorists who are so fanatical that they killed thousands of innocents flying planes into the WTC. Trust me, they want his head on a platter and as of yet, nobody has even come close enough to so much as give him a dirty look much less assassinate him. Anyone who would want to assassinate Obama for his race would be much less intelligent and have much fewer resources than the enemies of George W. Bush.
