My brother and I used to drive past this place called "Grease Monkey"...we could never understand why anyone would want to eat there...it seriously looked like a restaurant w/fancy window covers and tables...here all along it had been an auto parts store we finally realized! This got me thinking about weird restuarant names - One I saw once in North Carolina I can't repost here because of mylot's vocabulary policies...but it was way too obscene for it to seem appealing! So what's the strangest restaurant name you've ever seen?

Not too far from where I grew up there is a restaurant named "Sam and Ella's". It may not sound too strange, but say it fast. If you say it fast it sounds like you are saying salmonella.

How about "Roadkill cafe"... may not sound all that unusual to some folks but to me, ooooh yeah, thats exactly what I want to do, after seeing some roadkill to go right for lunch!

There is a restaurant in Toronto, Canada, it is called "Fressen". My son and his wife ate there and inquired about the name. It is the German verb for describing how animals eat. When people eat the verb is essen, when animals eat they fressen. So I guess you are invited to pig out. I used to pass a restaurant that was just called the Family Diner but they had a sign in the window that announced that they were serving "Full Coarse Meals". It made me chuckle each time I passed it.

I love mispelled signs! Fressen does seem like an odd one, thanks for sharing! We went to the "Muddy Duck" somewhere around Toronto once I think - probably was at least 10-12 years ago - the food was great, but we kept wondering why in the world they would name it that!

the strangest restuarant I've ever been to was called "D*ck's". The reason it was called that is because the waiters and waitresses had to be mean to you. that was there job. to be mean and make jokes about you. kind of funny and we all had a blast because we were all mean back to them. they gave us these hats that we had to put a rude comment on about the person sitting next to us and wear it the whole time. i had a ball. God bless

oh yeah, i had a blast. i was rude right back to them. some people would get really mad, but it says on the outside before you go in that that is the way you should expect to get treated, so i don't understand why people were getting mad. i just joined in which made it much more fun. LOL! God bless

Marco's China Kitchen was pretty weird. There's also a place in my home town called the Bonefish Grill with a logo of a fish skeleton. That kind of creeps me out. Do they realize that their logo is the part of the fish you would normally throw out?

I think it was called Hot Bunz. At first I thought it was a strip club, but realized it's a burger place. LOL! I never got over the name, it's just so silly. My husband got such a kick out of it. To this day we can't forget it, but the burgers were the best.

When I was in Springfield, MO, a place I did not like btw, there was this candy shop at the mall called Bulky's. I was like, you're joking right, people are so dumb they go in there when the result of their actions is in neon lights over the door. They didn't even sell anything good in there that I could see, just those icky sugar and wax things like gummy bears and worms and stuff that just turns my stomach thinking about it. Also, when I visited my cousins in Oklahoma, they live in a pretty small town. When we were driving through the area there were these restaurants in various towns and the sign literally said "Restaurant" No other name given. I don't know who was so short on creativity, but it was amusing, until it got boring. Everything there looks pretty much the same.

There is a restaurant here in Kentucky called Fudruckers LOL...I think that's pretty funny. I just have to mention the name of the the hair stylist place owned by Joan Cusack's character in Runaway Bride. It wasn't really a restaurant but I loved the name of the place and thought it was so funny, which really suits Joan Cusack and her character as well. The name of the place was Cut Up And Dye. I just thought that was hilarious!
