If you win big lottery, what would you do?

Everytime I buy lottery ticket I always wonder what I would do if I strike the first prize of about $5 millions. I always dreams of living in a beautiful house by the seaside with big compound and swimming pool. Besides, I want to own a few cars including BMW and sport car. I also dream of going vacation to all my dream vacation city. How about you, what would you do with your prize money if you win the first prize in the lottery?

Yeah, that'll be really great. I would set aside some of it for my education. I would use most of it for my new and permanent home.

I see that you are disappointed with your job as well as your pay. As for me I work really hard to earn good money. I am a teacher as well as my wife. We are getting good pay. Besides that, I also do part-time lecturing (as tutor) in the local University as well at the Nursing College. I am getting more than my pay from both places. Life is good for me but human never satisfy with what they have and I always look forward to win BIG MONEY. Hopefully you will win big money some day and will be able to settle your debt. Good day to you.

If I won five million I would do the following: 1. Purchase a top notch home (not a mansion) something adequate with a pool room, a basketball court, and a bowling alley... 2. I would pick ten special people in my life, and provide them with 100 grand so that their life could also change for the better 3. I would purchase a great variety of novels so that I could have fun reading them 4. Place 500,000 aside for my lil brother's future 5. I would spend a sizable amount traveling and getting to know our splendid planet

Zenmachodo, you seem to be planning this quite a while. It is good to hear that someone like you is willing to put aside certain portion of your prize money for others, especially the 100 grand for 10 special people as well as for your little brother's future. Another thing is that not many will buy the novels for the pleasure of reading espcially when they are rich.Glad to hear that. Have a nice day.

I'd buy an island and on it there would be a place for all the cool people that I love in my life. hmmm...I'd also buy another island far away from that one for all the rapists and child molesters to live when they let them out of prison (always too soon).

Oh...I definetly did not mean JUSt family members. Of course not. I said for all the cool people that I love....that is quite a few people actually. Oh and I really definitely was not thinking about the cost. silly blonde little me. Our lottery was up to 275 million last nite and I bought a ticket so I'd been thinking about this island thing all nite. I didn't win even a dime and I rarely buy a ticket so it was a fun and shortlived daydream anyway.

Hi Sid556. 5 million dollars may sound so much but I doubt if there is any island in this world would cost 5 million dollars. I like the idea of living in an isolated place but not in an island without anybody except our family members.

If I won the lottery, I would buy a large farm, build and convert the sheds into green energy ones - solar panels, have several breeds of goats from all over the world, and make loads of ice cream, and invite schools and have an educational research for them. I would have persons with disabilities and people who would really need it working with for me.

Hello Goatlady. It surprise me a lady is fond of goat. Some countries in South America are using solar panels as their source of energy so I think you are into green energy. Glad to hear that. Thanks for your comment.

If i ever happen to win a lottery i would surely be spending a major part of the sum in investing in areas which would give me regular income over the future years. This could be in mutual funds, fixed deposits or govt bonds after taking in to consideration the tax factors. I would spend some money on myself and my family and some amount would go to religious places.

Hi Limcyjain. You really think of your future. That is also in my plan if I win 6 million dollars. I will try to look for the best opportunity to invest my winning money such as trust fund or buying bluechip share. It is indeed a good idea to donate some to the worjip places such as temples, churches or mosques.

I'd move. Inmediately. I'd live my house to go in my girlfriend's city, to live with here, study there and do anything with her, always. Then I'd buy some dresses - I'm a girl after all - and I'd build my dreams house. But it's so difficult I can win the lottery.

The chances of winning lottery is very slim indeed. All we can do is hope and hope to win. But we never know our luck, who know you will win one day and you will be able to build your dream house. Thanks CarolaMuller for dropping by.

What I would do is : A) Either ask if I can collect anonymously or interview and hire security for a peroid of time to keep some of the evil schemers away from me. B) Give the ticket to my parents so we can split the money. C) I would like to start an annual haunted house or Halloween festival that raises money for animal, cancer and childrens charities. I am a big horror movie fan so it would be fun to plan new ideas, and interact with some of the talented artists and special effects people and the cast of scary actors - all for a good cause. D) Buy a beach home to enjoy the beauty of the sea.

I woyld rather share some parts of the money with them to open up business and if they make profit they will pay you back. At least you will see the return and they will aprreciate you better for starting the business for them.

So, why do you want to invest in Bux.to? Do you think you will earn more? I would rather invest my money in either trust fund, fixed Deposit or in share or stock exchange. I think we will get better return.

You will go down in history if you can build a church, school, charitable hospital, children's home as well as retirement home. I hope you will win lottery for the needy. God bless you.

right now, the lottery jackpot in our country is about 150,000,000... if i won the lottery, i wouldnt find it hard to find things to spend it on. 1. i will use the money to get the best possible doctors and hospitals for my dad. 2. i will use the money to encourage him to get well. 3. use the money to have my mom checked u to. 4. give them both money to relax and enjoy. 5. pay for house mortgage. 6. go to law school or graduate school. 7. travel - to europe and japan. 8. buy a car. 9. buy a house for myself. 10. invest in mutual funds and stocks. 11. help out with nieces and nephews schooling. 12. share some to my brothers and sisters. 13. pick a charity, donate some from time to time. greenpeace maybe. 14. keep money for next election - to help the most morally stable candidates i know for our city. 15. save the money for future investments. wow.. i hope 150M is enough, lol..

yeah, i just got back from the hospital actually.. my dad has a really big soul but he's getting weaker because of diabetes.. i really wish he'll get better.. part of it i think was devastation during the last election.. i believe our country is full of resources - land and people but we are also overflowing with corrupt officials.. i took political science hoping to make a difference but i'm stuck trying to fight for change in the system first.. about the lottery, i don't usually bet on it but almost all my siblings and my parents are.. i think, no matter who will win within our family, their priorities are the same as mine (except perhaps the law school bit because most of them have families already, lol) but i'm thinking of starting to bet on the lotteries as well because in our country, the gaming (lottery) division is somewhat a charity organisation as well.. they donate part of the money to hospitals and such.. so if ever i don't win, others will still benefit from it. anyway, thanks for picking me, great topic by the way,

I am really sorry to hear about your dad's condition. Hoepfully he will recover soon. I know how you feel. I lose my dad when I was waiting for my public examination result, that was 17+ of age. I was the only child in my family. Now, I have settle down and have good family, I have to look after my mum. Like you said, I don't buy lottery number too because i don't really believe in easy money. In my country, same thing happen. As a minority and living in a muslim country is not easy. I have to work so hard and fight for my place in any possible ways. The muslim are given subsidies but we have to work for it. Posham, are you a Catholic? I'm a Catholic and I do pray daily. God always answer our prayer but we need to "knock" many time before HE answer us. Don't give up. About your daddy, GOD knows what is best for him. If the time come, he has to go and I hope you can accept it. I know you are a strong lady.

I would construct a large building for my Church. Offer seed money for benevolence programs through the Church. I would also build a large environmentally friendly home. I would also build a large barn with several kennel runs. In the center, would be a large area where dog training could take place. I would continue breeding my Rat Terriers as well as rescuing and rehabilitating those who I could pull from shelters. I'd put money away for all 3 of my kids to go to College and persue whatever their desire. My oldest wants to run a b&b, my middle wants to be a rock star, and my youngest (2) wants to ride on a choo choo train. I guess I'd buy stock in Amtrak LOL For myself, I would hire a personal trainer and nutritionist. Lose a ton of weight. Restore my 1968 Firebird, buy a few new motorcycles of different styles. I have a dual sport now, would like to have a cruiser bike and a sport bike as well. I'd help my parents to open their own automobile restoration business and purchase the parts/supplies they need to restore all their old poject cars. I'd help my brother start his own candy/chocolate shop. My sister would get $ to go to college to become a lawyer. My oldest brother would get a down payment for a new home & a helluva baby shower. I'd try to do what some of the folks on Oprahs' big give do, and just for fun and to help people out. My husband would have his own machine shop with all the state of the art equipment and supplies. I'd buy an RV to attend dog shows and take the family on vacation. I'd take a $1,000,000 photo of my husband telling his boss "I quit" Thanks for reminding me to get my powerball ticket tomorrow. haha

How many of us will think of our church and donate some of our prize money for the community? I love dog too and I own a Shih Tzu. It is nice of you to remind me of my dog too. With the big prize money, you will have no problem of buying Amtrak stock or share. Thanks for the sharing.

I would use it to stop working for a boss and devote my time (and life) to the things that are important for me and that I like. So how do I do that? I have a certain living standard right now based on my income. I'm content with that and I have no need to raise it. Of course it is nice to buy something now and then that is out of reach right now. So I would take my current income and put 10% extra on top of that. This way I restrict myself to a monthly amount of the money from the prize that I can spend. With 5 million dollars in the bank (and regarding taxes every year) I wouldn't have to worry about money for the next 20 to 30 years.

Isn't it nice not to worry about money for the next 20 to 30 years if we do have 5 million dollars? I always dream of winning the lottery and lead a rich and famous life. I would stop working to however I would invest the money in trust fund or stock market and engage a good financial consultant. Thanks for your comment.
