Well i just heard its St.Patricks day today, now I had always belived its 17th, but no... Because its holy week on Monday, the church cant have a saints day on the same day as the begining of Easter, doesnt this invalidate both?

I've never heard that either. It's always been March 17th to me. I don't see what one has to do with the other, but then I'm not a church official.

they are trying to say that the holy week of Easter begins on Sunday and that monday should be a day of concentration on Jesus rather than an excuse to get drunk lol

that is another odd thing to my ears to express Holy Week as the beginning of Easter... when it is a very solemn week of Lent and not Easter. Easter or the Pasch is celebrated on Easter Sunday through Trinity Sunday.

Since the catholic church changed the Sabbath from Saturday,The seventh day of the week to Sunday the first day of the week why can't they change St Patrick's day from the 17th to the 15?

St Patricks Day for me will be the 17th of March as always its celebrated this week end because of the closeness to easter. Monday 17th will still be a bank holiday in Ireland, trust the Irish to turn it into a week-end event. tc xx

no, this is not correct. the Saint's Day remains their day. Though we do not FEAST during lent at all - and most especially not during Holy Week. I think, however, that in Boston MA. there is an old dispensation that the inhabitants there do not need to fast on Saint Patrick's Day due to the high population of Irishmen. Though, anymore I doubt that there are very many first generation immigrants and I think many of the people celebrate the day for reason's other than honoring this great British born Saint.

I am not a Catholic, so I am not sure. I heard a little stink about this here in the US so I just looked for some info. Here is a link from a reporter here in the US: http://tinyurl.com/ytb4w2 However you celebrate the day have a wonderful one! I am Irish but since it is a work day, I will be keeping it calm. LOL
