Chinese riot police used tear gas to break up Tibetan monks peacefully protesting against Chinese oppression. Countries should boycott the Olympics in China whilst they continue their occupation of the sovereign state. all the best urban

What utter rot! You are a victim of your government's propaganda, if Tibetan's love China why are they rioting and calling for the Chinese illegal occupation to end? As recently as 1914, a treaty was signed by Britain, China and Tibet that formally recognized Tibet as a fully independent country and demarcated Tibet’s borders. You government is a bully, is murdering Tibetans, 80 at the last count. Please read the above factual account of Tibet's history and you will see that it has always been a sovereign state, recognised by other states including China. Time for China to stop being the bully boy. all the best urban

In 7th centry ,Tufan dynasty rose and unified the Qing-Tibet Plateau,so in Tang dynasty we refer to Tibet as Tufan,Tibet at that time was an tributary country of China. (1) In Yuan dynasty ,I'm sure you know the emperor Geghis Khan,he unified the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau made it a part of Yuan territory,at the same time a whole series of military and fovernmental organization was set up in Tibet. At the beginning ,administrative organization called Tufan Xuanweisi was set u by Yuan dynasty to administer this area, later, because of Tibet's excessively large territory another Cuanweisi was set up,upuntil the middle of the Yuan dynasty there was three administrative organization---Xuanweisi set up by Yuan central government to control the whole plateau ,and Qing-Tibet Plateau was divided into three districts. One is Duosima which govrned nowaday most part of Qinghai province, southern Gansu Province and a small part of Sichuan. One is Duogansi governed a small part of nowday Qinghai,Sichuan,Yunnan,Tibet provinces ,one is Weizangali which governed most part of nowday Tibet. (2) Ming dynasty(1368---1683) basically followed the Yuan dynasty's ways to govrn the Qing-Tibet Plateau. But because the Duosima is an interracial neighborhood of Han,Meng,Hui and Tibetan nationality the Yuan central gov. set up Xining,Hezhou,Yaozhou to replace the origin Duosima district also Duoganwei to replace the origin Duogansi. THERE ARE MORE FACTS ......just wait.....

You history is a little erroneous. From the 7th to the 11th century there was a Tibetan empire which encompassed other lands including Bengal and parts of Mongolia. King Lonstan sent an ambassador to China, this is recorded and a matter of historical fact. Clearly showing Tibet at this time was a sovereign state. Genghis Khan did not unify but conquered China and in 1244, the Mongols recognising Tibet as an independent state began negotiations for its surrender. As the Mongol empire faded away China assumed control of Tibet but that was as a conquered sovereign state. all the best urban

However over time Chinese control faded away allowing Tibet to reassert its former status and by the 18th Century the Dali Lama was sovereign of Tibet. all the best urban

Interestingly Scotland has recently gained a level of autonomy. It is not a fact, as you claim. The facts I have set out above, which are documented, open to checking and clearly show Tibet was a sovereign state at the time of the Chinese invasion. all the best urban

MORE FACTS ......... (6) In 1911 Republic of China which now still exist in Taiwan founded, and the former Qing's offical in Tibet became illegale,so British got the chance to invade Tibet again this time British troops killed countless patriotic monks and civillians. (7) In 1951 after two years of the founding of The People 's Republic of China Tibet finally came back to China. Now we still live in a divided country ,but in no time we will unify Taiwan and all the islands in south China sea. we are gonna be one of the most powerful countries.

Tibetan monks are peaceful-entity. They should have served the people to live in a peaceful-way. When those monks are beginning to run demonstration against China, then they are entering political flora, that is not their principle-domain. They should have known the consequences for what they have done. Tibetan monks become the target of police-supression because they have positioned themselves in that place. The only thing that friendly countries can do now is to make appeal to Beijing to start a dealogue with Tibetan people. By opening dialogue Tibet issue could be solved peacefully.....In this regard, external power should be keep away from interfering.

(3) Qing dynasty (1636--1911) at the beginning of Qing dynasty Tibet was under the power of Mongolia,Qing gov. conferred an title to the Mongolian ruler and made him the representative of Qing gov. but later the dispute between the Monggolian and the Tibetan rulers resolved the Qing gov.to administer Tibet itselves. In 1709 and 1720,Qing gov.sent troops put down the rebellion expel the Zhungeer clan and killed the Mongolian ruler put an end to the governing of the Mongol. In 172,Qing government had 4 Galuns in Tibet administer the whole area. In 1751,Qing gov.set up Gasha as the local gov. (4) In 1888 THE IMPUDENT AND INFAMOUS English troops brazenly waged the first war invading Tibet ,Our brave Tibetan people fought against them courgeously ,but because of the ineffectual Qing gov we are pressed to singed the treaty and forced to open Yadong as a port. (5)In late 19th cenntury and early 20th century ,the powerful western countries esp England began to divide China insanely, the impudent English wanted to dominate Tibet along and split Tibet off China. Under the pretext that the Qing gov.was ineffectual and was not able to administer Tibet English gov. tried to negotiate with Tibetan local gov. without the permission of the central gov.During 1899 and 1901, British Indian governor LordCuzon wrote to Dalailama XIII three times tried to negotiate with the Tibetan gov. directly but he was turned down by the Dalailama XIII weho understood the malicious thoughts of the English and said that without the permission of the central gov. he didnt had the right to write to foreigners and all LoardCurzon's letters was sent back.

I agree wholeheartedly with you Urban! The world has to stand up to this kind of inhumanity. China has no right to interfere with a sovereign country. Tibet was not bothering anyone and China just moved in and occupied it. I believe the Chinese Olympics should be boycotted by all countries that believe in Freedom and Humanity. The Western Nations should bring China to bare on this issue, by enacting Trade Sanctions. China would soon get the picture and pull their troops out of Tibet.

Thank You urbandekay for that compelling Documentation on the Chinese-Tibet situation! This documentation leaves no doubt that the Chinese are invading a Sovereign Country where they have no Right to be. The United Nations should move to sanction China Immediately. This is just another example of the the Inhumanity and Lack of Human-Rights that is promoted By the Beijing Government in China.

urban, how do you know so much? This morning I read The Hindu which is considered by many newsreaders in India as the one of the most authentic ones... in that the Dalai Lama said that Olympics need not be boycott. But your other points are very very well noted.

peace talk is the only possible solution on this matter. if you use brute force to achieved your goals then you stoop as low as your oppressor. i know for a fact that superpower countries today had indeed conquered other small countries and subjugate it....before. Hawaii is a sovereign state is a part of U.S. territory. but what made it a successful state is that U.S or any other countries DO NOT subjugate it because they fear rebellion, and that's whats happening in Tibet. They do not want complete liberation (according to their Dalai Lama), they just want a special sovereignty in their land. horayt?? lol
