I won't drink out of a glass cup ever again because years ago I was drinking out of one and it broke in my mouth! It was pretty scary and having to spit out the glass and the fluid of the drink and then rinse my mouth out to be sure all the pieces were out. So now I'll only drink out of plastic glasses from now on out of fear and safty. Besides that, if one were to drop on the floor, 9 times out of 10 it'll just bounce around but if one were to break, it wouldn't nessessairly shatter like glass does.
So do you like drinking out of glass cups or plastic cups or does it matter to you?

Oh wow I'm sorry that you had that experience! I drink out of whatever is clean at the moment! We have 7 people living in our house and the dishwasher is constantly running, so you pretty much get what you get here in my house. I try to keep the same glass throughout an entire day though, to prevent from having to wash as much. It is much more difficult to get the little ones to do that though, as they are the ages of 5 and 8. They aren't the best of listeners either, but then again, when are little siblings ever good listeners? I haven't had the honor of having a younger sibling actually listen in quite a while.

That is true about the little ones. Wait till they become teenagers then it's hell to pay! lol That's when you'll really have your hands full. However once they grow up and become adults is when they'll come to realize "mom and dad were right" and they'll come to know what you've done for them and appreciate you more.
Hubby and I drink out of the same glass too all day long, he has one and I have one. It's the same with coffee mugs, we'll use the same one all day and at night they go into the dishwasher.

I have my clumsy moments and have even cut my hand when washing the darn things and it's another reason I've given them up. You must have a lot of courage to stay with them especially when you consider yourself clumsy. lol

That sounds like a horrific and very frightening experience cats and I totally understand why you no longer want to drink out of a glass! I do have some plastic drinking cups in the house but then who with kids doesn't? I still prefer drinking out of a glass myself but that is more about the feel of it than anything else! xxx

It certaintly was. I don't mind having some glass cups in my cubboard for someone else to use but I won't after that experience. Some think I'm a bit strange but I can't help it, I like my mouth a bit too much! LOL

it really doesn't matter to me whether it's the glass cups or plastic ones, although the plastic ones are so much easier to clean. straight to the garbage can..LOL! best way to go, but i don't always have them around the house. i try and get them though as much as possible as my kids are like water fountains and constantly have to have something to drink. God bless

I think maybe I should've clarified myself better, lol I mean regular plastic cups such as like tupperware or the like. But I'm with you though with the throw away ones for the kids, lol they are like water fountains. Bless you too hon!

I use glass cups, not because it looks elegant or anything. It's because with glass cups it's reusable and cheaper in the long run. For plastic ones, they are easy to break and are just mostly used for parties or gatherings.
It is a pretty scary experience, with what you had but don't let one cup bother you though... The chance of it happening again would be less than 5%.

I'm not talking about the disposable plastic but the hard type such as tupperware or any other kind that is reuseable. Even 5% chance of it happening again is too much for me. Once was enough so I'm staying with plastic.

I like the visceral feel of glass against my lips and teeth especially for cold drinks with ice or the feel of good ceramic in my hands when the drink is warm. However i like and appreciate the durability of some plastics.

I like ceramic coffee mugs for coffee or hot tea but plastic cups such as tupperware type for cold drinks.

I prefer glass cups. I find them easy to clean and more hygenic to use.

Plastic cups can be just as hugenic if they're cleaned good such as in a dishwasher with the hot water button pushed or you could wash them by hand with a drop of bleach in the water which will kill all the germs and clean away the stains.

i hate drinking from plastic cups. they just dont seem like they get as clean as a glass does. but thats probably a quirk of my own brain, then plastic being unclean lol!
ive never had one break while i was drinking, and i can totally understand how that would scare you off of glass! i do tend to occasionally break glasses when im washing them though, usually trying to get my hand and the sponge all the way to the bottom and then it breaks along the side of my palm. never been cut from that yet though. keyword being YET lol!

You're very lucky to haven't been cut yet. I have a few times and man it hurts! lol I guess because it's such a superficial cut is why it hurt so much or I'm a big ninny.... lol My plastic cups come out clean when they're in the dishwasher and sterilized too when I turn on the heat the water button and hot rince too.

I am the total opposite, Cats! I try to never drink from plastic if I can help it. I find plastic to be distasteful and possibly even unhealthy. I do know many people, however, who use plastic as their main drinking vessels.

It seems that most people do like the glass cups. I did at one time til that one broke in my mouth. lol I like coffee mugs still when drinking coffee or hot tea but plastic cups such as the tupperware ones or the like for cold drinks.

My cups are washed in the dishwasher and I make sure the hot water washing is on and hot rince is on so all the smell is washed out however, if by chance it's still there, I'll wash it by hand with a drop of bleach to get rid of it.

That was quite an experience. I don't really have a preference. We have Tupperware cups and glass cups at home. But I don't like drinking with disposable plastic cups.

It was believe me. I have tupperware cups too along with a few others that are decorated with fish or flowers and even hot red peppers. lol I don't like the disposable ones either unless we're out on a picnic then they would be fine.

For me, it doesn't really matter. But if let's say, I would be entertaining guests in the house, I would like to use glass, because aesthetics

As long as they're washed really good and maybe use a drop of bleach, then they'll be very clean and sanitized well or put them in the dishwasher and be sure to have the hot water on they'll come out clean and sanitized.

I choose glass over plastic. My mom has this thing in which she would not want to drink using plastic cups, for her they don't get thoroughly cleaned. This habit (?) stuck on me so you wouldn't see plastic cups in my cupboard.
Well, maybe until I have my own child, I would never even think of letting her use glass cups.

Yeah, growing up habits are hard to break. My plastic cups get throughly cleaned from the diswasher and hot water. If by chance they don't then I'll wash it by hand with a drop of bleach and they'll come out just fine.

I have never heardd of a glass breaking in someones mouth! i would have been just as scared and i think i'd have to switch to plastic as well. Do you ask for plastic cups when you go to a resteraunt ? or its okay for you as long as you have a straw ?
I like drinking from glass better the plastic. I find that plastic cups holds the smell of some things.. like strong juices and stuff.

When at a resturant I ask for a straw when they bring a glass cup for two reasons, one because of the obvious and the other is because ice hurts my teeth - the ones I have left that is! LOL Sometimes my plastic cups have a smell to them too but I'll rewash them and this time by hand and use a drop of bleach which gets that smell out.

Oh my goodness, I'd be terrified of glasses after such an experience!
I used to drink out of the glass type cups, but would worry I would get bumped by someone and chip a tooth. And as I didn't want to go through this worry with my kids I decided to switch to plastic cups when my oldest was a toddler. We've been using plastic cups ever since.

It was a complete surprise when it happened and it was at a friends house too. I don't like drawing attention to myself but had no choice but to tell her and that was the end of glass cups for me. You've got good reasons too when having little ones, they drop things so easily and can smash one on the floor and get hurt. You're a good mommy!

That is horrible, breaking in your mouth as you were drinking. If it happened to me I'd be traumatized too. However, I think it is just a fluke and doesn't happen too often so I wouldn't worry about it. I will keep on drinking from a glass. Plastic has a smell that I don't like.
