Many of you know from my previous post that i had been hospitalised about 2 weeks ago because of my heart problem... as soon as i came out from the hospital, the bills start coming up to my house... well, i think that's it... no more bills are going to come... but i am wrong... last friday, i've got another surprising ambulance bill that really shocked me... i use ambulance to transfer from a private hospital to a public hospital as i don't have money to pay for the $3,000 per day fee just for the room in a private hospital... i thought that the maximum that ambulance will charge is $500... but i am wrong... it is a whooping $826... i am trying to claim it to my private health insurance and hopefully that i will get something from them even though not all... so far, all my medical bills had totalled more than $3,000... and i don't know how many more are coming... i am going to take it slowly and asked them whether i can pay by installment... being sick definitely is very expensive here... anybody else here has a story to share??? thanks in advance for responding everyone and have a nice day...

THANK GOODNESS i live in ontario...part of the taxes that we pay go towards all of that! i was in the hospital for 4 days and had 3 more as an out patient last dec and did not have to pay a penny (all i had to pay was my time)! our taxes maybe high, but we do have a fairly good healthcare system!!!!!

thanks for responding... we pay high taxes here too in australia... but we still have to pay for some of our bills... the government do not cover all and if we want to have free medication, we have to go to the public hospital which the service is not as good as the private hospital... we have to wait for a long time before we will be served... i learn my lesson anyway...

Sorry to hear that you're going through such a rough time here! I hope you're feeling better at least. The sad thing for me with medical costs is that half my paycheck goes to insurance, and then even with the insurance I wind up paying a lot in medical costs. My copay for each doctor's visit is $30, and I go to the doctor at least once a week, sometimes more, considering I have 4 different doctors I have to see (specialists and such). Plus there are hospital bills on top of that, and it gets pretty crazy. I have a $100 payment that automatically comes out of my checking account every month for the hospital stuff, and I pay my doctors at each appointment. Thankfully my primary doctor here gives a 10% discount if you pay that day, which saves me some money on the individual doctor's visits. My son's medical bills are even more out of control, because he's had to have a lot of tests and such to try to figure out why he's having seizures, plus we always wind up having to call an ambulance when he has one, because he stops breathing. So that gets pretty expensive, along with the emergency room visits and hospital visits themselves. Being sick is indeed expensive!

thanks for responding... yes, i am feeling better now... i am sorry to hear about your condition and your son as well... it must be hard to have to go to the doctor once a week plus your son's medical bills... i don't know how you can manage that... i am struggling just with my own medical bills and going to ask for instalment payment and help from my health insurance... hope they will help me... take care and hope you and your son are getting better soon too...

That is true. It is very expensive to fall sick nowadays. Now I am scared to get sick not because of the virus or what but it is because of the price that I have to pay for the treatment and medication. It is really absurd. Things should be cheaper as we advance and should not be more and more expensive.

thanks for responding... yes, i agree with you... i also afraid to fall sick because i can't afford to pay for the bills... it is really ridiculously high... the government should do something to reduce it as many people who live by paychecks are struggling with it including me...

Hello dear lingli. I have to agree with that it is very expensive to get sick, especially to be hospitalized. The medication fee is extremely high. It is not easy to afford the fee at all. I am very sorry that you have to bear that high cost for the hospitalization. I hope that your health insurance will offer help in the end. Please take care, dear lingli.

God Bless you...

wow, I never thought that using an ambulance to transfer to another hospital has a fee! I agree that getting sick is really expensive. It's a good thing that you are out of the hospital now. Heart problems are quite serious. My parents always reminds us to always do the right thing and not take our health at risk because it is really expensive to pay for the doctor and medicines.

thanks for responding... yes, i have to pay for the ambulance transfer fee as i request for it... i can't afford to stay in the hospital as it is very expensive... it charges me $3,000 per night just for the room in ICU excluding the doctors, medicines and equipment... there is no way i can pay that... so i ask them to transfer me to a public government hospital... i am taking good care of my health now as i had learnt my lesson... it is really expensive to be sick...

It really costs to be sick these days. I am so sorry to hear you were hospitalized. I hope you are recupperated now. I know hospitals charge a lot and from what I hear from you they haven't charged you a lot; I know you can make arrangements to pay the bills in installment payments. I wish you luck and take care, God bless you!

First, I hope you get better soon. My mother just started on the road for chemo and radation. First GET THIS...The insurance company would not cover her chemo! Luckily, after many long phone calls and such they approved her treatment. We are only 3 weeks into this and so far the bills are over 15 thousand dollars (and that is with the insurance) Luckily, my father is a fireman, and his company approved losap for him, so he is getting a check for 10 thousand dollars, every bit helps. Hospitals can be a joke, they charge 20 dollars for a Tylenol. Best of luck.

I had a good friend of mine. Her mom is sick. Had a weekly maintenance for about $180-200. Im so sad to know that they are working just to pay for the hospital and so on. After several months you can buy a car with that money. Its hard for me if i earn that much i only spend for nothing. Being sickly is really expensive. So as early as now i make sure that im healthy. I keep myself eating those nutrition that i need each day to secure my health for a long time. What i am doing is to replace my breakfast into healthy one. read this for more information. http://www.perfectdiet.multiply.com
