You read it right, four women arrested for goading toddlers to fight each other.
There are plenty of tidbit quotes, the most agonizing of which are...

Another response made me think of more abuses I've read about. Be it fatal or not, abuse shouldn't happen and the clowns responsible for it should be shown no mercy by the law.

Wow...dog fighting for kids. Sounds like a new law in the making. I was always told that girls don't hit and boys NEVER hit girls. Sounds like these parents don't deserve to have their kids anyways.

Wow, this is certainly new to me. It seems like these women have nothing better to do and need some entertainment. Well, guess what? It's called getting a hobby. I mean really. What kind of entertainment value can you get from little kids fighting? It just doesn't make any sense. I really hope these women get a lot more than just a slap on the wrist.

I thought I saw another story with slightly older kids and a supposed "established" kids fight club...
Can't for the life of me find it now even though I saw it on break.

oh my word!! some people are freaking insane and do not deserve to have children. i can not believe these women!!! & that is what gets me...they are women..not that it would make it right if a man were doing this, but geesh, what happened to the motherly instinct of wanting to protect your child?!?! wow!! thanks for sharing this with us. i hope you have a great day!

This might be that case as I'm seeing a last updated comment from 2/2007.
Either way, I've not seen something exactly like this.
Yes I've seen other forms of child abuse, too many... some of them fatal.
I was just stunned at how these adults chose to abuse their children. I'm still rendered somewhat speechless over this.

This is a new one for me, I had not heard of this before. I can only imagine what the children of parents such as these will grow up to be like. I would imagine they would react with violence very easily. maybe even become abusers theirselves. I feel so bad for the children who have to grow up in this kind of situation. What I feel for the motheres who do this to their children can't be written on mylot.

And people wonder why we have trouble in schools with managing the behaviour of some kids. This is why! It is disgusting that parents have this mentality. They are doing their kids a great disservice, plus society and schools.
How are these poor kids going to turn out? They will certainly be emotionally affected.
I also hate the "boys will be boys" attitude. When I was teaching in a very difficult area, I maintained that one of the main reasons for far more difficulties amongst the boys, is because so many parents had that attitude that boys will be boys. It's crap. I dont believe. Boys will be how you bring them up.
Of course, what happened to these kids in the articles you have brought to my attention is far worse than poor parental management. It is outright abuse.

you know, it's absolutely ridiculous what parents are doing to their children these days. what in the world is this world coming to. i never agreed with dog fights and i sure as hell don't agree with parents doing this to their children, which is basically the same thing. it's sickening and quite disturbing. these parents ought to be stripped of their kids and punished severely for what they have done. Wow! I can't believe that people would actually do this! How heartless do you have to be to put your children in a situation where they can be harmed? I would never, and I repeat, NEVER put my children through something like this. At a toddler's age, they should be learning how to play blocks, and watching Sesame Street. These mothers really need a good bonk on the head or something, and their children definitely need to be taken away from them. They are obviously not fit to be mothers. They must have been watching way too much of Brad Pitt in Fight Club. I bet they will try to blame their faults on the media as well, such morons.

That's hilarious.
Yes, I realize it's wrong and all that, but c'mon...baby fight club is freaking hilarious. And, hey, it could be worse...At least they aren't beating the children themselves. A smack from an adult is going to hurt a lot less than a smack from someone their own age.
The good news is the police found out and did something about it. I can't wait to see memes about this, or the ED article, though...

Coming from the UK I am amazed I did not see this on the news.
It made me feel sick just reading this, what is the matter with some people.
I work with 3/4 yr olds and I must say I have witnessed parents nearly come to blows over their kids who have got into a skuffle.
In the UK we have so many behavioural problems with kids nowadays, this makes me understand why.
The sad thing now is these kids have been taken into care and knowing our track record with social services I feel even more sorry for these kids now.
My country has gone to POT!!

Just like others in the discussion, I really wonder what is going on (besides the downslide we are seeing). Some of me fears what the future holds in this regard.

OMG, what can I say about something as heinous and disgusting as this? What kind of bullies are these toddlers going to be in a few years? To me this is child abuse, just as if the mothers had hit and beaten the little ones themselves. Actually, I think something like this is much more harmful emotionally and mentally in the long term than giving a kid a well-deserved swat now and then, which is frowned upon these days. Thanks for sharing this story because somehow I missed it.

I hope they get some kind of counseling. I know that's something that may be overused these days according to some but for kids to be subjected to this type of behavior at such a young age is bound to have a lasting effect of them. As you said, Pro, they'll either turn out to be bullies or have some other problem. Maybe in some cases they'll be extremely timid, afraid to make a move or say a word for fear they'll get "beaten up". What poor excuses for parents!

I missed it too... I'm just surprised at the whole event.
The children are going to suffer the worst out of all this, very true. They'll either grow up bullies themselves, or they maybe warped in some other fashion. I just hope there is real intervention on this, so the children can grow up peacefully.

Man what in the world is wrong with this. This is why many kids are actually acting violent in school and killing. If you teaching kids to fight, they are going to be negative and are going to actually think they need to have everything their way. i'm glad they got caught this is so out of order. The is not the spirit of excellence, far as teaching your kids to whats right.

wow... For the past 2 days I am reading a lot about child abuse in the news. You are right... all this is so disgusting. Sometimes I wish I could meet these people in real life.. I would probably punch them in the face... not to hurt them, just to toughen them up lol
I got to thinking... maybe child abuse laws should be toughened up. Maybe that way people won't be doing this sort of crap... Anyways... I have read that people like these are the ones other criminals in jail pick on, since even they are disgusted with what they do... Can u say karma?

That is a form of child abuse.I am glad they found out what was going on and arrested the women.I always try to teach my child not to fight other children unless they are hurting them.I mean this is horrible.It is sad and just plain out wrong.

it is sad to think that the women,or mothers are doing this to their
children.I recently was watching TRuTV and there was this woman
who is accused of drowning her child,and the court is trying to find
her guilty.But,a few are saying that she's not guilty of course,
and the fact that she wasn't there to see the child get drowned.
but,the defense lawyer is saying that he looked in the past,and have
found numerous accounts of her abusing her daughter.
where the daughter would make small little mistakes,and then the mother would jump on her hard.it's sad how the world has gotten to be.
why do they do this for to their children?B/c they don't love them,and
they have a mean heart.
