what is it to be an american

I was not born an american but became one thru citizen ship. BE proud to be an american because I am. America gave me love, knowlege, freedom, and choices. It might not be perfect but nothing and no one is. I was born in a country that has been war torn for over thirty years now. Alot of hardships, dispair, and terror. American gave me the freedom to speak my mind without having to be afraid of being killed, It gave me the freedom to go to school without having to worry about where i'm going to get the money from to pay for my edjucation. It gave me the freedom of raising my family in a safe environment, and to choose and decide my own path. It gave me the freedom to vote for who I want to make the laws which i must follow, It gave me the freedom to fight for my rights. I find that it is a privilage to be considred an american and even though i love the country that gave me birth and would always fight for peace to it's people because I thing we all deserve the chance to live in peace. I am an american and proud.
