Anyone know of a site where you can go and at least watch portions of TV sitcoms from the 60's? I am looking to buy some of the old series for my grand kids since there is nothing on tv these days appropriate for kids, and they usually dont' watch tv at my hosue anyway, but I will have one of them this summer while school is out and sometimes she needs "help" in stopping and taking a break! There is so much she wants to do at my house and then goes home and is all wound up that mommy gets annoyed with her over abundance of energy after she herself has had a long day! So I need something she can lay down and watch and calm down. But something short, I have some disney movies nad such, but a half hour sitcom, (really only about 18 minutes) and she can watch 2 and then get up and go at it again! I have the series of Flipper from the 60s and she loves those, but i was thinking of something like Gidget (with Sally Field). Howver, not having a tv back then I only saw this era of tv as reruns from time to time. so I was wondering if there is a site that I could view even portions of those oldies to see if it was something she'd like. Or does anyone have any suggestions as to a good series?

When I was growing up and Nick at Nite was actually good, I watched plenty of them. Depending on how old you grandchildren are, there are some good ones. If they are pretty young, find something that has young children in it: Leave It To Beaver, the Andy Griffith Show, The Addams Family, My Three Sons or Lassie and that's just a start! For kids who are older (like maybe 10 or more), they might enjoy The Adventures of Dobie Gillis, The Patty Duke Show, or the Rob and Laura Petrie Show (not the actual title, myLot won't let me put the name of the man, who also stars in Diagnosis Murder) All of these shows are OK for kids. And don't forget about the most quality and wholesome show of all time - Little House on the Prairie!! Try the youtube website to see if you can catch a glimpse of these shows, and a good old search for sixties sitcoms in your browser. I only mention the few off the top of my head, but I know there are a lot more. Hope you find a couple of good ones. And might I also suggest that the 80s were notorious for wholesome television programming. We had The Cosby Show, Growing Pains, Family Ties, Full House, Family Matters and more, so don't count those out either (-:

My kids loved Family Matters, Full House and Family Ties. I have FM on VHS nad GD has the Full House series. I do watch TV land, but at times she needs to stop, nothing she's interested in is on - even on Noggin. I've tried her on Little House, but it doesnt' interest her. I think as she just gets bored sitting so long! She is 8 and can sit still for about 1/2 hour then she's ready to go, but she also just watches for the enjoyment of it - doesnt' like to have to work to watch or "stick with it" to long. Her little mind just goes so fast!

And forgot to mention, my goal is to delete my cable bill. I am recording things (have been for awhile) but I am hoping to cut my bill down to just basic cable 2-13(local channels) and there is next to nothing on that for kids! So I am watching prices and shows.

Well I suppose that will eliminate a lot of choices. Hopefully you can find something - if not, find a fun game! It builds character, is fun and might keep attention for longer than half an hour, too (-: There are also fun kid websites you can visit. A lot of these have games and shows your children can watch. Start with something like Disney or Nickelodeon and see where it takes you. If you need more suggestions, let me know; I think I know of a few others than your family might enjoy.

The only site I know of is netflix. You can rent tv progams there. I recently rented "The electric company" for my daughter. She loved it. They also have reading and phonics cartoons. It is a wonderful source for decent programming. Well worth the small monthly fee.
