Why does Windows Vista suck so much????

Does anyone know why Windows Vista sucks so much? I have had nothing but problems since i bought my new computer. It came of course with Windows Vista!!!!! I absolutely hate it. Everytime I log on to the internet, it puts me into a work offline status. There is apparently no way to keep this from happening. It will continuously try to reconnect me to a dial up connection and I don't have dial up. As soon as my husband comes home, I am loading XP onto this computer. I can't wait!!! Does anyone else have problems with Vista?

I don't know why it sucks. But I have it on my laptop. Not the desktop though. I use the desktop to type everything up. I hate the new microsoft program that came with the laptop as well. And if you email an attachment to someone who doesn't have the newer word, they cannot open it.

As far as documents, I do know how that goes! However, I have fuond a way to change that. When you do a save as, you can change the type of file it is so that when you send it to someone else it will be in a format that they can read.

Yeah I really hate the new word. It's hard to find anything! It took me a while to figure out how to save as!

Yes, I realized that after a little trial and error. I still don't use it though. I don't like the way it is set up. The things on the top, I don't like that.

Have you checked your internet connection settings and configuration. You can call your ISP helpdesk and check if there is something you missed out on your connection settings. From what you have described I think there is something amiss there. Something is telling me you have not setup correctly.

I have checked my internet settings and configuration. No matter what I do, it doesn't seem to help. Some days it's constant and some days it doesn't happen at all. Also, the ISP help desk cant' do much because it isn't the internet connection itself but the computer. That would be like calling Wonderbread about Stouffer's. That just doesn't make sense. Thanks for the input though.

Not aware what kind of access are you having i.e. broadband adsl dial up or cable and etc. I had then asked you to check with your ISP for what setting config for your connection for Vista. I am not saying that there is anything wrong with the line / cable and hopefully not. Sorry if my explanation had been vague.

Windows Vista is very different from the previous operating systems that Microsoft have released, which is why so many people find it difficult to use. Vista is actually a very good system, but you need to spend the time to become familiar with the differences between Vista and Windows XP.

Good point. I have't been the most patient with this product. I just expect it to work after I buy a very expensive laptop and it came with vista wether I liked it or not lol. Thanks for responding.

I've had Vista since last May and it does take some getting used to. I'm very disappointed in it, but have managed to make it work. Your problems can both be fixed if you keep trying and don't get impatient. I had both those problems too, and I got them fixed but I can't remember how I did it. My main complaint is that Vista Basic is very slow especially when your starting up.

If your PC is slow with Vista it is almost certain that your PC is not powerful enough. Get a Core2Duo PC with 4Gb of RAM and 512Mb GRAM graphics and it will run as fast as XP. Lot of money to spend just to have a pretty desktop though! haha

You are so right. Vista is very slow at start up. I was very disappointed when I got my new computer. Thanks for the information. I will try not to be too impatient in the future!

Ic, i also heard rumors of windows vista not being good as windows xp...so i stick with windows xp...conclusion before we buy or install another OS we should check out what other users commented about it. we must not just listen to people in Microsoft when they release a product, coz they will sugar coat it...if you eat it...you will get tooth decay ^_^ lolz

Amen! I didn't have a choice in the matter in purchasing. It was already on the computer. I am going to have my husband put XP on it as soon as he gets back from Iraq. For some reason he decided to take the disks with him. Ugh!

My opinion is that if it ain't broke don't fix it. XP was great. I am still going back to it when my husband brings the darn disks home with him!

Well, it's a habit that Microsoft finds hard to give up.It's a repeat of what happened when XP was released the first time and they had to work on it to clear the bugs.Thankfully, I read the tech forums before deciding to make the switch from XP to Vista. There's a service pack arriving today that people can download from Microsoft's website .Here's the news piece :http://www.mylot.com/w/newsarticle/686820.aspx

This happened to me all the time when I first got my laptop with Vista too. I don't know what my husband did to it but it doesn't do it anymore. I hated the fact that a lot of the programs online and off are not compatible with Windows Vista yet. I liked XP much better but I have been using Vista for a year now. I hated it when I first started using it and I don't love it now but I am used to it.

I am glad to see that I am not alone. I don't know or understand what is going on with Vista but it's a pain in my butt. I am definitely going back to XP, but I can see that I am getting used to Vista after a cuople of months. I don't wnat to keep it though lol!

I agree with you. Vista does suck. It gives more problems than an active six year old child.

amen! I have to agree. It has been very problematic for me to deal with during the time I have had it. I have to take my quizzes and exams online for school and all of a sudden the computer will start acting stupid. Ugh!

I hate my Vista too. I dont know why they suck but they are horrible. My printer used to work fine with the Windows XP, all of sudden my printer had an error and was not working. My DSL line stop working too I had to delete all files and reload my disc for the internet lines all over again. It is too complicated that it wipes or blocks others too.

that is odd that you mention your printer. My printer wrked fine on my other computer but now on this one it will only print the last page of every document. I dont' understand that at all.

I have Windows Vista on my desktop and it works fine. I did however have to install XP onto the laptop because I did have the the recommended 2Gb of Ram. It was crap on the laptop. But like I said my desktop works fine, it has 2Gb Ram and a dual core processor. The reason it is not working in some instances is becasue its a new OS. When I say new I mean alot has changed between XP and Vista. XP was just a nicer looking Windows 98 with a few extra addons. With Vista Windows is trying to make the OS more secure by using some of the ideas from the Linux OS. Vista will get better. I think MS makes an OS then send it out, makes Dell sell the OS and thats how they troubleshoot the OS. I don't think they spend much money or time doing that in office.

I suppose I just need to be patient! As with anything new there are bugs to work out. I will try to be more patient. It just gets pretty frustrating at times!

I upgraded to Vista few months ago and had nothing but problems. The security features blocked me from doing everything and my computer went really slow. I think it looks more modern than XP, but at least XP works well. I wish I hadn't upgraded.

I am in contact with general public who use both xp and vista as OS and they come to me for getting their files printed in laser printer. I always encounter a lot of problems when the files are edited for some fine tuning display of the text. I was told by most users that vista is not a good OS compared to XP. I have not installed vista and hence only heresays.

I have Vista on my computer and so far (knock on wood) I haven't had any problems with it. But if I ever do, I have a friend that works on computers and he said he would put XP on here for me. I hope the problems you are having go away soon!
