My Daughter Won't Let Me Over For Easter

Well the plans are me, my wife, and my father are going to my daughters for Easter dinner etc next Sunday. Now I get the word that my daughter will refuse to open the door for me. The reason behind this decision of hers is a simple one really. My daughter loves Baker Square's French Silk Pie. And I mean REALLY loves it. If I do not bring one with Easter Sunday she says she will not open the door. Of course she is joking but I loved hearing this today. Show's me how much she really likes the fact I always get her favorite pie each Holiday Dinner at her house or ours. So I will be allowed over for easter either way. But of course I will be bringing a couple pies including a French Silk just for my daughter. So do you buy your pies for easter Dinner or do you ake your own?

Awww grandpa.... shame on your daugther!! LOL for putting stipulations on your coming over! LOL Just kidding ya know.... I've make my own pies too because it tastes much better than the store bought ones. I don't know why that is but it's true so I'd rather make them myself then I know they'll get eaten. Silly thinking isn't it?

That's my girls ways though. I have never made
any pies for the holidays. I figure as it is a
holiday let someone else bake them for us.

Well I must say Grandpa that the title of your discussion should garner a lot of replies as it is heartwrenching! I was glad to see that it was about a pie! Is Baker's square a brand name? I have never had a french silk pie. What is in it? I won't be baking anything, if there is a desert, it will be bought or my parents will bring it! I always have them over for Easter dinner. My favorite pie is coconut cream pie, but I actually prefer cheesecake! I won't be having either this year as I am dieting and can't afford to cheat! (I'll be cheating enough on the main meal probably...which will not be my routine diet-type foods I'm sure!)

I kind of hope it does anyhow. But I am having some type of problem with this discussion as well. Go read my other discussion I just started about this problem. Cookies are usually baked at Christmas but pies are bought each year for us. Bakers Square is a Restaraunt Chain and they have a bakery that has the best pies in town.

The kids have so much candy that this Easter with everything else going on I am going to keep dinner simple. I hope you have a great day with your family...man that silk pie sounds great!

Ha! I thought you were going to say she wouldn't let you come over til you got rid of that cap. Is she the one that hates your cap? Maybe you can bargain with her. You'll bring over the pie but she has to let you wear the cap.lol
I usually make my desserts for the holiday. Sometimes I make a pie but usually its a cobbler. I love blackberry cobbler.

My dad used to buy a few pies from Baker's Square for the holidays but I never continued that tradition with my own family. Don't know why unless it's the price. I've made a few apple pies b4 but noone eats them but me so why bother.

I don't have Easter dinner at my house. My husband and I go over to his parent's house. she always makes way to much food. She always makes her pies homemade. I mean occasionally she will buy a pie, but that's not very often.

I don't think I will bother getting anything much - the kids will be too busy eating chocolate to worry about a dessert! lol xxx

How sweet. Sounds like you have a good relationship with your daughter.
I don't do pies at Easter, just mainly do pumpkin at Thanksgiving and other times during the fall.
And I don't do pie crusts either. I cheat and buy the frozen ones and then put my own fillings.

I haven't found a Baker's Square around here. Besides their pies, I loved their carrot cake. I love that French silk pie too, but it was so hard to choose what to buy with so much good stuff there. We have Marie Callendar's here and I really should get over there to check out their famous pies and compare. Do you buy one pie just for her? whit

I don't usually do much of anything for Easter. Maybe this year I'll have a nice dinner for the boys and I on Sunday... I have a few hams in the freezer already. As far as dessert goes, I could likely get the boys to help me bake a cake. They don't like pie, except for pumpkin, and I don't like that kind. I don't even know if they'd be easily found this time of year anyways. lol.
