I work as a assistance nurse for geriatric care. And I love what I do for work. When I see the gentleman and the lady´s smile on there faces every morning when I come and help them. I know I am doing a god job. I know I made the right decision on my profession. But this was not what I was intended to do from the beginning. I have a college degree of economic. And I did intended to work on a company with economic. However some things in my life happen and I had to change my plans.
I am not sorry I did.
Are you happy with your choses, or if you could change would you do so?

In my country, your choses are not respected by the burocracy and you just have a profession that you really did never mean to have.
Many of my teachers were saying "I could never guess I would be a teacher some day, but suddenly I found myself in front of the students listening me". This is a terrible situation and everyone is trying to get a job to keep their life secure here, nothing about what they want about the profession.
When I was 14 years old I went to technical high school and that forced me to continue to a technical study in university. but when I was 16 I was already changed and wanted to study something social, especially language teaching. I attended to official exam of the governement to study that in university, but I was not accepted (I got really nice marks though, and with my daily English) because I was from a technical high school and I only can continue to technical subjects... And I am at 3rd year and university now, it looks I am gonna be a technical subject teacher a few years later... and saying the same thing to my students:
"I really did never mean to be a teacher when I was younger"

Hello and thank you for your response.
Sad to hear this. Is´tn there a way for you to change when you have finished your school? I feel any one should have their dreams listen to. And if your dream is to be something els than you wanted in the beginning, I think your wishes should be respected and you should be able to change. If my kids wanted to drop of what they chose from the beginning to start with something they really wanted to do, there are no one who can stop them here in Sweden. However they have to consider they will have to study longer time.
My daughter studied for working with kids in need for certain care. However she also wanted to be a assistance nurse to. So she did study in high school for a job with kids and now she are studying for being a assistance nurse. However she do not have to read every thing since some of the things she studied earlier are also in the courses she is studying now.
The only thing she has to consider is to take a study loan she one day have to start pay back.
I hope you can do something to make your dream come true.
I wish you god luck with your studying.

thank you for your lovely comment really. I even considered taking the classes of high school again, and beginning the university again for this reason, but it is also not possible to get a second high school diploma in our country. If you have one, (especially if you have a technical one) then you should do everything with the diploma you have. and the university exam just doesn't give us the marks to go to university what we want, the points system just lets you to go on what you did in the high school.
The main problem is a little political over here. There are some people who are trying to change the formation of our country to an islamic one and they are gaining more and more power everyday. Here is very nice as a democratic republic and those people just trying to turn it into an islamic one. Some kind of schools also raising people from their side and those religionary schools also taken into the same account with the technical wants. so the country wants to stop those but also stops technical students. The current prime minister is just an a..ole and wanted to remove that limit JUST to provide freedom for those schools, not for us. Besides, our population is 10 times more than them and they are still putting us in the same category

Same with me. I am a kindergarten teacher at present. Though I've always liked to be around kids, this was never I considered becoming. I've done my engineering and did work in the field for a couple of years. I do not regret that either. I didn't really change my plans because of something personal (though a part of the change is due to personal reasons) and I am very happy where I am right now. My only problem is not being able to go further and educate myself because of my little one.

Hello and thank you for your response. Glad to hear that you enjoy your profession. I did study for economic during my children was in their young age. Their father worked night shift as a nurse so it worked rather well doing so. However, we ended up in a divorce just as I was finished my studying. So I had to change my plan. And studied for one more year to be a assistance nurse. I did so because during my summer holidays I did work extra as assistance nurse and I did liked it. After that I have been working heavenly. And now I have a job I adore.
Plan for study when your little one are older if you can or wait and get your experience on this profession, it will help you by the time you are able to educate more.
God Luck

Hello and thank you for your response. I am sorry to hear about your injury, but hoping you are OK. And yes this job is very rewarding. And our boss have this year acknowledge that with a god raise in fact. We are the people taking care of people and we should be rewarded for our efforts to do the best we can for them. I love what I am doing and as long as I can I will stick with it.
I should not go to work to day, I have a bad cold, however I will only be there for four hours, and we have lack of staff at the moment. So I will go anyway´s. And I do it because I love what I do.

Yes, when you have a family, it do change your life up side down. In a god way. Having more time with the kids are important so changing job´s in a good way seems to be in the right place. But since you have your profession, you can always go back later on.
I am waiting for my son now 17 being a bit older so I can change my working hour and from working day time working night shift. That would give me a better life stile. I would not have to work as much on a night shift as I have to on day shift in order to get the same pay check as I do when I work day time. One of my cow worker working night shift are going on her pension, so I hope I can take over her night shift soon.
thank you for your response.

To be honest, i don't like my current work very much , the only reason why i still not leave the work is that, it has more time and the work is not very heavy. so i can have more time to prepare my future.once i get what i want ,i will resign this job and find out a better one.

Hello and thank you for your response. I feel glad you say that. From the beginning before this was a profession we said it was a call. However it has changed to be a profession thank´s to Florence Nightingale. And I think of her sometimes. I think without her struggling with this we should perhaps not be as appreciated as we are today. However, in this profession you really have to love what you do. You have to have a passion for it. And for some reason I think you should also have a personality to cope with it.
It is sometimes hard work. All people are not nice. However if you love what you do, if you love working with people and if you have what i takes of you, you can do almost anything.

I do not have a permanent job yet. I am working part time as an accountant and I can say that I am not very happy with my job because of the work load. My colleagues always give me piles of work suddenly especially when I am busy rushing to finish my other work. On some days, I get very little work. They always accumulate the work until it is too much before they will give me. I tried speaking to them but they still remain the same.

It seems to me you should have a talk with your boss about this issue. I should. I am my cow workers union speaker. And also my jobs safe for ours work place. So if something is not OK I do speak with our boss so we can solve the issue.
I can understand how you feel. It is not OK in my opinion that they should give you to much sometimes and nothing other times. Make your voice heard.
Thank you for your response. Hope things will be better for you.

Thank you for your response, I do hope you will get a profession when your kids are old enough to cope without you for some hours during the day´s. Having a job to go to, is some kind of rewarding and healthy for you even if you are a mother. You need to see other things than just the children. But I do understand that is not easy when they are small. And I also think when kids are small they need their parents a lot and if it is possible you should stay home with them. And when time is right for them, it´s right for you to start working.
Have a nice day

When I was still studying my ambition was to be a police officer. Somehow, I end up being a teacher.
To be honest, I am really happy and proud to be a teacher. It is a noble job. Year in and year out, you will see new faces and new characters. Besides, you make new friends and the beauty being a teacher is, forever you will be called "Teacher". I am teaching upper secondary students, around the age of 15 - 18 years of age and I am also tutor in the local university.
To me, the best part of being a teacher is when the students obtained excellent result in the public examination. Our hard work and dedication pay off at last and forever they will remember you as good teacher.

Hello and thank you for your response.
It was nice to hear. Sounded similarly to my self. And of course, if your student are doing excellent job, you have done an excellent job. I know teaching is the most difficult thing to have as a profession. My son has disorder of ADHD so we have worked hard to have a god school for him with god teachers understanding this issue. However, we ended up fine and my son has been a excellent student doing what is demanded of him, even his issues being tough to suffer from.

It seems lucky for someone who has a job in favor. I do not like my current job very much, and have planned on changing it for a long term. But I still hesitate at making decision, for I don't know whether I really like the next one. I am afraid that maybe I just like doing something before it becomes my profession.

Thank you for your response. The kids today has to make their life choses in the year of 15. They have to make a chose of a profession and start studying to get there and I ask my self sometimes How in the world are you going to know what you want to do for the rest of your life when you are 15. I think that is the problem of many people being without a job. We have to make a change there, so the young people can try and feel about this, before making their minds up, let them try out more than one profession and than feel what they like to do.
I for one did study for being a secretary in my early studying days. However, the computer world came a long, and there was no need for many secretary any more, so I worked at hospital as a cleaner for a time. After that I did get back to school and studied for economic, and went on to high school and studied some more years, and today I am a assistances nurse and I do love what I do.
I guess you have set your mind up to what you would like to do for a profession. Than make a plan to get there.
God luck

Thank you for your response.
It is not easy to get god paying job. It seems that what ever you do for a living, there are often no enough paid jobs, is there. I got an salary raise last month, a real god one, and many of my cow workers got a lot to...still saying it is not enough. I for one, did get a lot, and I must say I am glad. I think for this year it is enough. I think, we have to stop some where, and when we get a raise in salary, the store raises their prices...so in the end....there will not be much any ways. However I feel it will be ok for me....I can not say for others...but if the salary for me is OK...that is what I need...and I do not ask for more. If you say it is not OK, ask what do I need it for...materials, easy living, or do I have enough to cope.
The important issue here is You should not be under paid of course.
