My dog prefers to work for his "good boy treats"

Whenever he comes in from outside, I give him one. He wont take it. If I drop it on the floor, he won't eat it. I have to make him work for it. If I tell him "Sit!" or "Shake!" , he has no problem taking it from me. Is his weird or what? What strange things does your dogs do?

He is a good dog. I like to give him treats for no reason, but he takes all of the fun out of it when he makes me make him work for them. Thanks for responding

he's part beagle, part sh!thead... lol Um... He is a mutt. We got him as a puppy from someone at a bar my husband used to go to. They told us his mother was a beagle and was pregnant when they rescued her from the humane society. So they have no clue what the father was, We we took him to the vet for his first shots, they told us he was part beagle part JRT and whould get no bigger than 40 pounds. He is now almost 100 lbs. I think he has lab, pit, beagle, st bernard. I forgot to upload a pic, now I think its too late

Wow good dog, I haven't had a dog for years. But Toby our sheperard would of took the snack either way, and if he could of snook it he would of lol. That dog just liked to eat. He was a good dog though and knew how to sit and shake. I think your dog is much better behaved. Toby was a runner, so if he got loose off he would go.

Dogs are funny that way. My Datsun will take it if you hand it to her, throw it to her, or leave it where she can find it. Probably like your Toby Beau is usually a good dog. Unless he sees a cat that isn't "his".... then poof he's gone

If I am sitting online when my avatar wakes up from her nap and starts crying before I know she is awake my dog will come over to me and practically push me out of the chair and then walk behind me with his nose dam near up my butt until I go get her. And the whole time he is looking at me like "Why did you make that baby cry" Her terrible twos are going to be fun with this dog around.

It is amazing how protective our dogs are of "their" kids. Out little Datsun doesn't like any rough housing.. it doesn't matter who is doing what to who... she is going to protect whomever she thinks is getting hurt. Have fun with the dog and the "twos" And gor the love of Pete.. STOP pinching your avatar!! ;)
