About boston marathon

I've always desired to run in the boston marathon but i'm restricted because of the finances in coming to boston. anyway how much do you know with this event? like how one registers; and i'm really very curious about some of you guys who had tried it, or interested (like me) to compete. the marathon is on april 20 right?
