When he was in class IX, he was abused by his teacher for his conduct. After that his father was also abused by the teacher. Read what he says now, "That teacher was a PhD. The day she abused us, I vowed to achieve an even higher degree to prove my capabilities. Today I thank that teacher for giving me a purpose in life". He is Chandan Kumar born in Sonebhadra, a village in Uttar Pradesh. His father, a small contractor, had a large family including his parents, five other sons and four daughters. Chandan's higher studies were never a priority for his family but for him this was the top priority of his life. He recalls, "I came to Allahabad after completing class X as I could not suppress my desire to learn more. There I paid my school fees by pulling a rickshaw". Chandan survived on chana and never had a sound sleep in those four years in Allahabad for lack of basic amenities and a nagging thought that his talent was lying unused. Today he is studying in Delhi College of Engineering. He has derived his own theorems. He has won Best Technology Award from IP University, and Best Design Award for a robot called 'Sovereign' that he and his friends are making for Singapore defense force as part of a contest. His positive attitude has made him a successful achiever of his purpose in life
