Do you take into consideration what you family thinks about who you date? Why or why not? I believe that sometimes you should take into consideration what they think. Especially if its reasonable. Since they may seem somthing you dont. In the past, I haven't really taken into consideration my families opinion, but now I try to do that. Since, my parents have been right about some of the guys I've been with.

Although I'd like to take into account my mother's opinion, my mother has horrible taste in men. My mom dated so many jerks when I was a kid and young adult, that when my mom has told me she likes someone I'm dating I usually start to see their flaws right after. When she's disliked someone they usually turn out to be great. My partner now my mother didn't care for when we started dating, and we've not been together for 7 years and have a great family together.

I think you should consider your family's feelings, but not be ruled by them. I would take a look at my own family relationships first. If mom and dad are really suited to one another and seem happy, then I think their opinion would count more than if they were dysfunctional! My first marriage ended after a few years, and I found out later that my parents thought I could do better, although they didn't tell me so beforehand! I wish they would have. I may have still married the guy, but might have thought a little harder about it and saved myself some heartache!

Your right you should consider your family feelings, but not be ruled by them. Since it is your life, and your family members may not be the right ones to take advice from.
