What does success mean to you?

What does success mean to you? Do you view yourself as successful? Why? I've always had a saying: 'Success is not having everything you want but being content with what you have' This is not to say that we shouldn't strive for more. Contentment doesn't have to mean inactivity. I accept my life as it is, but I always seek to improve myself. However, my self worth is NOT dependant on my acheivements. I guess my theory is similar to the serenity prayer... God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannont change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. I've acheived many good things in life, one of the things I'm proudest of is that I have managed to raise two teenagers who respect me enough to listen to my advice (whether or not they follow it)... I think that is one of the greatest acheivements any parent can make... to be an active role model for their children. There are still things I would like to acheive. The biggest one is to heal some relationships that have suffered for wrong choices I've made. Another is to become debt free and financially independant... to be able to go on a holiday and do what I want to do without having to examine my financial situation and decide whether I can afford it. But for what I have and am right now I am content... I know I am worthwhile even if I never acheive financial independance or entirely heal those relationships. So what is your view. What does success mean to you? I'm sure peoples views of success are as individual as the people themselves. So feel free to share your views... maybe it will do you some good to think about it!

Well, when I was younger, success definately meant making more money. I think that now that I'm older, success means doing what I like and having some satisfaction in what I'm doing. I feel that my job can make a difference in the world, but I would not be here if I did not make at least enough money to be comfortable.

Yeah, I must admit that I was the same when I was younger... I've learned that other achievements are more important as I've gotten older
