sports betting is it an investment

i used to hate bettors and see them a criminals, but recently i joined an online betting system, they gave me free $.05, after 4 bets i turned it into $1.80, then on the 5th bet i lost $.80, having only $1.0. is the risk involve in betting worth it, i think it is still the same as forex trading, cos in both we are all assuming our guesses will be right.

How are betters like criminals ?????? Im more of a fruit machine person myself but I have had an occasional bet on the football and have had more sucess than failure. I will only bet small amounts like £5.00. What confuses me are the odds, thats why I am not really in to betting.

if the odds is say 1.75, if you bet 5pounds, the you will win 1.75x5= 8.75 pounds. the american odd are set as +235, -124, i dont understand that one.

Your country must do odds differently than here in the UK as are odds are displayed as say 10-1 and 3-7... for example the 1st odd if you placed £10 at 10-1 you would get your £10 back plus 10 x £10 which would make £110 at 10-1... and at 3-7 you would get £3 for every £7 that you place...... Ive just had to check these with a friend to see if they were correct
