What's your reaction time to others' call, do you response instantly?

Strangely enough, I never react to others' call instantly.It's not because my brain functions slowly but it seems to me that i tend to wait for several seconds to confirm sth or to calm myself before i turn my head to the person who called me.
I wonder if you have the same behavior as i do? Or can you accept this kind of thing?

When I hear my name, I would wait for another call. I just want to make sure that it's me being called. But sometimes, when I thought I heard my name, I would instantly look in that direction.

I once pretended not to have heard any thing when a friend of mine called me. I just didn't feel like talking to him at that monent, and soon afterwards, he just stopped calling and went away .It's a little bit wrong, I know, but it seems a good way to aviod sth,uh?
