I was on CNN's website reading the stories of many Americans on the verge of loosing it all!!! And my heart just broke...the cutbacks, job loses, forclosures, gas prices and it goes on and on. Many are just walking away and really that is all a person can do.I myself would do just that, as long as I had my husband and kid...the Heck with the rest of it! How BAD is it for you or for someone you know? What are your next steps?!

Well we aren't close to losing it all...mainly because we don't have much to lose. I drive a $300 car that is paid for obviously. S/o drives a $500 truck...again, paid for. We don't own a house and can't afford a mortgage even if we could get one. We make enough money to buy groceries, put gas in our vehicles, and pay our share of the utilities here at his parents 3-4 bedroom trailer. We are depending on the tax refund to pay off our son's preschool tuition and carry us through the year on extra necessities (I had to get new contacts and glasses, we'll have 5 kids needing school clothes in the fall, etc). It's pretty frustrating but I know it could be worse. S/o has a job, his parents' home can't be forclosed on, and we don't have any major unpaid debt.

LOL...I know it's not your fault but that really made me chuckle! Besides the 5 going to school next fall we have 3 others...not all live here though but we still have to help support them. And the in-laws are awful and hate having us here and pretty much do everything they can to make us miserable...but all in all we are luckier than a lot of people so we shouldn't complain too much!

I'm glad your in a luckier situation than others and don't have the extra worries that other's do. I know it can still be hard keeping 5 kids happy but sounds like you have great in-laws to help!

it is getting pretty bad for most. I started a discussion the other day about people I HAD SEEN ON THE NEWS. They had decided rather than be forclosed on they would burn down their home. IT is bad. But what can you do except make the best of the situation you are in?

Desperate situations call desperate measure's...a shame that a person would have to resort to that!...It's not Right!

It isgetting pretty bad from what I have heard. I am doing all right and I don't really know of anybody that is in major trouble right now. I am really concerned about the nation's economy though. I think something needs to be done and fast. The last thing we want to do is go into another depression. We need politicians and government official that will help to correct this major probelm instead of making it worse. Things are only going to get worse if we don't take some sort of action now. Things are getting really bad, and I am getting more and more concerned.

I think with this is the RIPPLE EFFECT bit by bit it starts to effect everyone eventually. I feel for the people who have worked so hard for everything to get nowhere...to start over again..it shouldn't be this way!
