My basement is submerged in water!

Probably about 6 inches deep. My hot water heater is not working due to all the water. Thankfully the furnace is up higher than everything else so it is still working. Or else we would be freezing by now.
It rained and rained yesterday. I get up at 5am and it was already raining. I don't know when it started but it was already drenched outside by that time. I hate it when my feet get all wet. Makes me cold the rest of the day. I rolled my jeans up so the bottoms of them didn't get soaked. Well, it continued to rain all day and was still raining this morning. I am not sure when it quit exactly but it has stopped now. Thank goodness. Could you imagine the water coming up the basement stairs?
We have a pump down there pumping the water into the field outside. It is going to take all night and I won't have hot water until the basement dries out.

I really hate to hear that! That must have been a surprise for you this morning. Hopefully the pump gets the water out pretty soon.
Does this happen every time it rains?

It has never happened before. I didn't find it til I came home from work today either. I picked up the rugs and went to go downstairs. Well, when I hit the light I could see all the work. I just dropped the basket.

so much rain, I guess it has to go somewhere. We had terrible basement flooding one year when we lived in upstate ny, after a tremendous snow filled winter and quick spring thaw - everyone was flooded.... our sump pump ran 24 hours a day for more than a week

Wow, that is a lot of water. Our basement only gets water in one room. It is a small area by the door where it comes in and it runs straight for a drain in the floor. Thank goodness. We have had a ton of rain. It finally stopped around 2pm today. It rained for almost 2 days straight. I hope the water gets pumped out soon and you get your hot water again.

That sucks...
When I was growing up in the city that used to happen to our house. Those darn pumps always take all night..sounds like technology hasn't changed much in many years!

well the games the weather play on us tehse days can be funny and at the same time frustrating, last week we had almost three days of non stop rain here,i tell it was very chilling, just manage to cope with the whole situation,it will soon be fine at least the rain had stopped now

I do hope that you will be able to get the chance to get the water all cleared up. I could not imagine what you are going through! I hope that you can have some hot water very soon. Take care.
