The Evil Code 10

I just got a brand new computer. I put parts together to form it. Somehow though, my sound isn't working. It says something about a code 10. Have you ever had this problem. If so how do you fix it. I have the most up to date driver for everything in my computer. My video card is a nVidia Geforce 8800 GTS OC 512mb.

I'm not really familiar with a code 10. What operating system are you using? Please tell me it isn't Vista.
