Do you find people work better when the boss is not there? Why is the boss such a pain?

The boss has a job to do, just like everyone else and his job is to see that you do your job. If he is the owner, the boss wants a return on his investment in his business and if he is a senior employee he has a responsibility to make a return for the owners. In general I have found that if people do their jobs, the majority of bosses will leave them alone to get on with their job.

Yah ok, but you do get bosses which should not be bosses and think they know it all. I mean, why buy a dog and then bark yourself. They have emloyed proffesionals, but never take their advise and then in the end land up cocking things up because they made a desition without listening to the pros. Now... any boss like that is a royal pain in the freekin but!

Yes you are right that some people who are bosses should never be put in that position. That does not detract from the fact that he has a job to do and if the boss is resented by the employees the situation will deteorate, which generally means the boss will become more overbearing. At the same time, there are people who are employed to do a certain job but are not up to standard. Unfortunately, in many countries it is hard to dismiss an unsatisfactory employee.

Yes he is, when he is here it always seems like he is trying to keep things stirred up. He does not conduct business the way he has taught us to. Instead he comes in and gets on the phone trying to find problems and if there are none he will create them. This allows him to feel superior and important. He was gone for over a month and everything ran very smoothly until he returned, it is like he can not stand for things to run smoothly. He must always have drama going on or he is not complete. I am waiting for the day when I will become my own boss again!

I have three bosses and none of them know what the other is doing or saying. None of them know what I do there, only that I produce the required figures for the job I do and do a good job. They know little or nothing about my working day and I rarely see them. Im really left to my own devices and once the figures are as they ought to be and there are no complaints (there never are) Im basically my own boss. In a lot of ways this is good but a negitive to it is that I get no feedback what so ever and it would be nice every now and again to get a bit of praise for doing a good job.

Oh my boss is a darling, thats because he is not here. He is based in Singapore. I only speak to him on the phone and communicate some via email. So when he is not around, there is less stress. Its great here but the pay could be better. Can't have it all I guess.

Persons who join a firm are given Job Chart. If the work is done according to job chart, the Boss will not come near you. In fact your get due respect from him. There was a great saint in India - SHRI AURUBINDO - in his book YOGA he says - Every body does. You also do. You do little more, little better. YOu reach great heights. A real worker is not bothered whether the boss is around or the boss is nor there - his work goes on and on and he has no complaints.A GOOD WORKER DOES NOT COMPLAINT ABOUT TOOLS.
