I love traveling. I enjoy going to different places and spend time relaxing. And when I travel, I love to take the plane. I love the feeling of riding a plane even if it will take the whole day to reach a destination. So far the longest time I spent in traveling was about 24 hours and that was the entire plane ride... with a couple of stop-overs, of course. I don't like to ride the boat. I am sea-sick. I think a lot of horrible things that might happen to me everytime I ride a boat. But I like to ride the train too because I can see a lot of nice landscape. So, if you are going to your dream destination assuming that you cannot take your car or bus... which do you prefer... a plane, a boat or a train?

I want to experience the plane. I have traveled riding a boat and train but never a plane yet. I want to see the clouds right in my eyes, the feeling, If I will like it or not, like if I will feel dizzy, sick or whatever.

I will be scary at first. But once the place took off, it will be ok. But it's not fun when there are turbulence and you can see nothing but dark clouds and lightning. I would start praying when it happens. No, I am not scaring you.

I travel by whatever means my journey may require. As a traveler, I enjoy the journey as much, if not more, than the destination. I have traveled by plane, train, boat, bus ... hydrofoil and by ... donkey, elephant, horse, foot and thumb. Plus cars, bicycles, scooters, aerial trams and Hawg! You say by plane, which I guess most folks think of a "jet", but have you ever flown in a tiny plane? A prop-plane with less than ten seats? How about only two seats??? I don't get sea-sick, or air-sick, and I love sailing. I don't do the 7-day cruise thing, but I have been on over-night boats, large boats with hundreds of cabins and passengers. I have also been on teeny-tiny boats, 24ft (8mt) plywood boats that carried a dozen passengers across a hundred miles of open ocean. What can I say ... travel by whatever means the journey asks of you!

Hi Ruth, love your icon! You know there are risks involved with just getting out of bed in the morning! But keep in mind that boats want to float and planes want to fly. A hydrofoil is a type of boat, not very common, that skims across the top of the water, or even above the water, through the use of a special keel that raises the boat. After double-checking my journals, I misspoke, what I thought yesterday had been a ride on a hydrofoil was actually a high-speed catamaran between Pozzallo Sicilia and Valletta Malta. Hawg is slang for a Harley Davidson motorcycle. Some other less common modes of transport I have used - balloon, snowshoes, skis, canoe, rubber raft - and there's nothing like taking the "chicken" bus! P.S. Thank you for selecting my response. (-;

Good. So you are a travel. Nice to hear that. I just have some questions... what is a hydrofoil? the Hawg? And I have only took a commercial plane. Small plane scares me, I have a feeling that it would crash right after we take off.

The ship is boring and I hate the time you just see all water and the islands are very few.Food is good for the special class areas where the dining area even has a red carpet.I love the plane because of the speed.TO love to sit beside the window and look at the clouds and views below. the philippine airlines has good service and the food is good.

I agree. I love the feeling of traveling, seeing places and sceneries changing before my eyes. With plane, you only see clouds, and you see the place below it only when you are about to touch down.

So we are on the same boat... quite figuratively, though we are both sea-sick. Maybe because I watched this Jaws movie too that is why I always think the same thing will happen to me. Thanks for the response.

I think i can never ever stand being on a boat for long. i get dizzy easily. I would love to try travelling via train and since i have travelled through a plane, i think it is faster too travelling in a plane.

Welcome to the club. The longer time I was on a boat/ferry was 15 minutes. I feel I would die if it will take any longer than that.

i already experienced riding a ship/boat when i went to palawan and mindoro. it was just fine..but kinda scary..in my thoughts.."it might sink...it might get burned..blah blah!" haha...but the trip was just fine though it took how many hours. i really want to take the plane..want to experience it. it maybe much expensive but if you want to enjoy the place you will be going and want to spend time with that place..plane is much better. i would prefer a plane

Oh I remembered my cousin and his wife went to palawan on a boat too and guess what? we only found it out on the news, apparently that boat they were on got lost in the south china sea because they got motor problem and they can't even reach the coast guards they spent 3 days at sea without anyone knowing about it. I was really shocked because I supposed to go with them. Good think I am sea sick. Thanks for the response.

it depends on the destination you are dreaming. this world is blessed with all the beauty and seeing it all is practically impossible. but getting to see maximum is my fantasy. if i can reach a place within a day or two,i prefer the train because as you have mentioned the landscapes on the way are worth watching but long trips hurt my back so i would prefer to take a plane. but planes are costlier especially if the travel time is short. so for short trips trains are economical. but for longer ones certainly planes are certainly the choice. ship is the last choice ,i dont know why but i dont feel safe on water.

Yup, sometimes it also depends on the purpose of the trip. That is why, I make a plan for it. I like to enjoy that travel as well as the destination. And yes, the boat is the last thing I would ride if I really dont' have a choice.

Defo plane, i love travelling by plane, its soo easy, and it saves a lot of time, i am not really one for the whole greanpeace thing! I would rather just get there quickly! lol. boats/ferries etc make me throw up, and car is just boring, but i also do like cars because you can stop where you want, and playing with the sat nav is fun! lol Chris :)

When I was in college, I used to ride a boat during sem breaks to and fro from my hometown. I hate the feeling travelling over the sea for almost 12 hours. Just like you, I think of extremely bad things that might happen. Whenever I watch the water at night, its depth looks like there's a worst nightmare lurking in it that gives me a creepy feeling. I like travelling by plane, since it saves me time and like to see things getting so small and watch the land and water above the clouds. Air turbulents worries me though. So I will prefer to travel by train if I have ample time to do so. I can watch the sceneries as I go with my travel and have chance to relax.

Yes, I guess that is the best thing I like if I travel by train, to see the sceneries. Sorry for the late reply.

I like travel by plane. Because the plane is very safely, advantage, take a little of time than others. Boat, train and bus always make me sick.

I like to have a travel by plane. Because it can really save the time. I don't have many days off work. So when I travel, usually I have to choose to take a plane. The train is not expensive, but it takes a long time. As to a vessel, it takes a longer time so it's not suitable for me at present.

Dear Ruthinian, I would opt a flight for long distance and would like to go for cruise also boating as in sight seeing and tourism, traveling in train is liked when I would like to see places and want a change in my traveling. As a tourist I would opt for those transportation that would help me to see the sights while traveling, mostly a bus, taxi, autorickaw, autos etc.

I see. Me too, if it is to reach a certain destination immedietly, I'll also opt for plane. But if I wanted a relaxed and more laid-back and not in a hurry travel when I could see the countryside and beautiful landscape, I like the train.
