Prayag, known as Allahabad, is a religious town in Uttar Pradesh. In prayag, three sacred revers meet, Ganga, Yamuna and Sarawati. The place is is called Sangam. YOu can see Ganga and Yamuna, but Saraswati is not visible to human eyes. After Prayag, the name of the river remains as Ganga, which goes to another religious town, Varanasi (Kashi). The famous Hindu Kumbha Mela is organized at Sangam after every six and twelve years.
Allahabad has given two Prime Ministers to India, Jawahar Lal Nehru and Lal Bahadur Sashtri.Another Prime Minister, Vishwanath Pratap Singh took his education in Allahabad. Ex-chief of RSS Prof. Rajendra Singh and ex-president of BJP Dr. Murali Manohar Joshi taught at Allahabad University. Big B, Amitabh Bachchan also comes from Allahabad.
I have also studied at Allahabad. It was a very peaceful town in those days. Now, like any other town, Allahabad has also become very crowded. those of you, who have not yet visited Allahabad, should visit this religious town.
