What's with "Webkinz"?

I don't quite understand all the rage about these "Webkinz" toys. I first heard about them just before Christmas, when a friend bought one for his daughter, because that's what she really wanted. Now my sons are asking for them too. What is the big deal? The Easter Bunny will be leaving a Webkinz in each of the boys' baskets on Sunday morning (clydesdale horse, bengal tiger, and brown dog). It cost me a small fortune ($14.95 each), but I know the boys will be thrilled with them. Please tell me what is the big deal about these toys? What do they do? What happens on the website? If your kids have webkins, did the novelty wear off quickly? Do they have more than one? What ones? Would you buy more? Do you plan on buying one for a child you know?

My daughter still loves her webkinz. On the site you get some Kinzcash that you can spend to build up your own private "house" of sorts. You play games to earn more kinzcash and do other things to earn more specialty items. My daughter's area has two bedrooms (one for each webkinz she owns) a kitchen a bathroom and an outdoors area. Each room is decorated with the appropriate decor. If you know other people with webkinz you can actually invite their webkinz to your house to play games and such. Alot of the games are quite educational, plus it teaches them how to save up for items, and keep their pets healthy and happy.

That is very cool that the webkinz can play with each other on the website. That means my boys will have each other to invite over in the cyber world. Cool. Let me know if your daughter wants some new webkinz friends, and she can invite my guys' over.

The process of inviting others to your room is pretty difficult actually, it kind of sucks and I really hope they fix it and make it better. Right now they have several coloured zones that your are put into when you log in, you can only invite people within your own zone, you can't even see people who are not in your zone. You can easily change zones but you never know who is in what zone.

If you actually know the people you're trying to play with, all you have to do is ask them what colour zones they're in, right? Wouldn't that solve the problem?
