Just wanted to know how long you have been a writer for and what motivates you to write? Why do you like writing and how does it feel when you right? Do you write for money or do you write just because you like to write?

I started writing before I could actually write and I don't handwrite much now because of being disabled. Mostly I type or dictate. My mother remembers me literally crawling around the house because I couldn't walk, bugging people to write dow my sotories and get them out of my head I must have been three or so. I'm thirty-one now and she says if I ever get famous she's going to sell my first stories on EBay and make money. There are still many addicts out there. At the time I though I was going to be a veteranarian, but my hands shake too much so writing was a better course.

I guess I have always liked writing. I wrote some poetry in high school. I also wrote a few short stories. I am motivated to write when I feel words start flowing out of me. When I write short stories it is because I have a story running through my mind so I start putting it down on paper. Often it is a story about an experience in my life. I mostly write poetry now because I like the challenge of writing concisely. Writing poetry has actually helped me write better prose. I don't usually write for money but I had three short stories published in a religious magazine for youth titled Guide magazine. I was paid for these three short stories and it was nice to see my name in print and to receive payment. They paid by the word. I am not sure how much and each story was a different length. I made $45, $35, and $25 for the three stories. Not much even back in the early 80s when I wrote them but my goal was not financial but more about getting my name in print. Yes, I was a little egotistical back then. I have never considered a full time writing career because I don't think that I am disciplined enough to write everyday. I have never kept a journal like some of the other people who responded to your questions and maybe that is why I am not a disciplined writer. But I am okay with that too. So I write poetry now when I feel moved to it.

I still don't consider myself a writer. Haven't written any books or blogs. I like to write small articles for Hubpages and be involved in discussions on myLot. Someday I would like to find someone to write a biography for me because I don't have the confidence to actually sit down and try to write a book. Guess I could start with an outline and fill in the blanks but need someone with more experience. As of right now, I am writing to earn but have found myLot is a great place to socialize as well and am not as interested in the money. I developed an interest in writing when in college but it became secondary to other classes and interests.

I have been a storyteller since I could talk and a writer since I could write. I do it because I know I am meant to even though I had to put it aside for so long. Now am submitting novels that I wrote years ago and have re-edited. Joining a writing group is a great way to get motivated and find markets you may not find on your own!

I started to write back when I was in grade school. It was really something that I am used of doing. I didn't intend to be a writer then, I guess I just needed to put my thoughts into words because I don't have the courage to say it. Since then, I keep journals where I could write my thoughts. Ever since I knew about blogs, I have done my own as well and up to now, I am still very much into it. I am writing because I just want to, and perhaps, if I can develop my writing abilities and got the chance, I can do it to get some incentives. :)

I've been a writer most of my life, but a professional writer for twenty years. I write because I'm called to do it. It's what I do best in the world. I write both for money and for the love of doing so.

i started writing my novel in 2003 because i am a college grad with no job connections and couldnt get in anywhere, and many people and friends i know kept telling my that they liked my writing style and my writing is entertaining. so, they encouraged me to write my first novel. i am also a graphic designer and photographer. i self-published it myself on the lulu site, doing all the work myself. and now i am marketing it and designing the promo material. check out The Sand Dollar by Fifi Leigh on the lulu site. i am currently trying to draw a graphic novel now. i am trying to start my own career.
