Red light cameras too good for their own good?

Anyone been driving around America these days knows not to speed cuz if you got caught by the police, you'd get a ticket (if you're like me). But, if you're like my husband, you'd get a warning. But, for some, they managed to forget about the red light cameras and just go zoom zoom through the intersection, past the red light and get their photo taken. If they're bad enough, they go to jail...do not pass GO, do not collect $200. What's so annoying about these forbidden boxes is that some of them will take your picture as soon as you cross that white line after the light turns red. Normally, you have until you're about more than half way through the intersection to be safe. Anything behind you and you're risking running the red light of doom. But, exactly how many near and accidents have happened because of them? Many times, I've seen people slam on their breaks at the last moment to avoid getting caught. They're lucky the person behind him was paying attention or there'd been a rear-end collision. I've been caught by one of those darn things once. What about you? Do you have them in your city?
