In your personal recipe book/cards, do you have more family recipes

or things you've clipped/copied from books? We have alot of family recipes that have been handed down, sometimes 4 or 5 generations, and they dominates our recipe card file. Of course, we have other books that we keep handy, but our files are mostly hand-me-downs. How does that compare with you? Do you feel you have more or less family recipes than an average family?

Most of my recipes are ones I've come across that look fast and easy as well as good to eat (taste-wise). My mother never wrote down any recipes - everything she made is in her head. No exact measurements. She just put it together and it turned out. (That gene missed me entirely!! LOL) Her mother wrote a small booklet full of recipes, but no directions - just ingredients. I don't even know where to begin with them. My other grandmother was the same - ingredients but no instructions. So, although I have those family recipes, they aren't part of my recipe files because I mainly collect recipes I can make easily without having to research on procedure.

Yeah, I'll admit we have had to do some experimenting and interpretation to get actual measurements in the recipes! I'm glad we had alot to work with though. Thanks for your time!
