I have always been attracted to tapestries for some unknown reason. One of my most prized possessions just happens to be a floral tapestry book cover(which I use frequently), that cost me next to nothing. I ordered it from one of my book clubs several years ago. The art of tapestry has a long history which dates back for centuries. Tapestry is a form of textile weaving and it comes in many styles and patterns. My book cover happens to be a floral design. Many of our great cultures of the past had tapestry as an art form. Some tapestries are famous because they depict important battles and took many hours of work to complete. I also have a couple of tapestry handbags. Do you own anything with a tapestry design?

In the olden days tapestry wall hangings were more highly prized than paintings because on large walls they served a useful purpose in keeping out the cold in palaces and castles built from stone. It also gave a useful occupation to women who had plenty of time for needlework while their men were away fighting battles.

You are so right about that, paid2write. A tremendous amount of work went into those tapestries that were so useful.
