Is it worth the risk to invent clean energy technology?

Oil companies have killed people that ran cars on water. (Stan Meyer, poisoned before showing a water powered car to the military) Drug manufacturers have killed people that cured diseases that they would rather just maintain (Royal R. Rife, poisoned mid 1970's for curing cancers) My question is this, IF you had a great idea regarding clean energy, would you try to see it through to fruition or just sit on it because of the danger involved? There should be a safer way of working on important inventions without fear of corporate atrocities...
