Surely you cant get paid for starting discussions, as i could post thousands a day, about nothing, with only a line or so in each, i then would be able to make loads of money, by clogging up mylot with junk. So do you only get paid for replying to discussions?
Just a thought =]

we do get paid for starting a discussion as long as at least one person responds. that is based on your number of posts right now you have 335 if you post a discussion and somebody responds you have 336,
some people make more money posting their own discussions than responding.

Dear Chris,
here at mylot quality is counted and not quantity. I have found that out myself. I have been putting in enough responses quality wise and my points are increasing slowly but definitely. First it was a bit slow, because I didn't understand that bit.
Now mine is jumping ahead but I do not get much time to respond all the discussions I can and want to answer. There are lots still I can answer and would love to but for the lack of time. Do not look for quantity just look out for quality and useful discussions to post. You'll earn fast. All the best @zeloguy (4911)

Check the people that are ranked the highest in MyLot and look at how many posts they have per day...... I am SURE you get paid for posts... it would be the same for responses as well... I could just answer yes or no or whatever to responses all day and expect to be paid a lot... it just doesn't work that way.
Thanks
Zelo

The pay you get for starting a discussion depends on the quality of the discussion and the replies you get. So if you clogged up mylot with discussions about that were only a line or so each, and got no replies, you wouldn't get anything for them. (Though you would probably get reported and banned).
Mylot's faq offers this advice for increasing your earnings, along with a few other tips:
"Post quality content. For example, generate discussions that engage other users and provide insightful responses and comments to other users discussions to further the topic"
So obviously discussions that engage other users will generate pay for you.

I'm not sure, but I've noticed that days that I post more quality discussions than days that I don't, I earn more. So I post them, and I try to post things that people will respond to, which doesn't always happen. Other than that, I always aim to post the best response, and to respond with more than 4-8 lines. My earnings are racking up fairly quick, so I'm not worried about it too much. I'm just hoping to get some referrals to this site, too help out with my earnings.
