I was diagnosed today with an ulcer, and H.pylori. My doctor gave me a Prevpac, so that (hopefully) will take care of that.. but what kind of diet should I have? I guess bland foods work the best, but even bland foods hurt me.. any suggestions?

I had an ulcer once too. No spicy foods or things with a lot of Grease. Soda is out too. The acid can aggravate or prolong the ulcer. Try drinking mostly fruit or natural juices. Make sure you eat well. Meaning eat full meals. Ulcers mostly develop because of bad eating habits. Just make sure you eat and take your medication. Should clear up in no time :)

Strangely, Spicy foods don't hurt me nearly as much as greasy foods. and Tomatoes. I can't handle tomatoes. I drink water because fruit juice has always hurt my stomach. As far as eating well, though, I just seem to not have time to do that. I guess I really need to overhaul my lifestyle... Thanks!

My ulcers haven't acted up in years, thankfully. I found stress played the biggest part in how much pain I experienced. When I was stressed out, I could barely eat anything, when I wasn't I could eat almost everything. Hopefully your medication will make a difference. Did your doctor make a referral to a nutritionist for your? Ask him to if he didn't.

I'll ask my doctor, Thanks! As for stress, I'm trying hard to get out of my line of work, which is my largest source of stress. I've recently adopted the motto "simplify your life" and I'm trying hard to achieve it. Other than work, my life is pretty simple lol. Thank you again :)

I was told by a friend that in Europe an old time remedy for any stomach ailments and such the only thing used years ago was mashed potato, I guess its worth a try....good luck.

Well, as i read and advised by Doctors banana is one of a great help in your diet. It is food with alkaline which will neutralize the acid in your stomach. You have to take plenty of water about 8glasses of water a day. Not too much on citrus fruits, not too much on spicy foods. Strictly no soda and cafeine. Honey (pure honey) is one of the best remedy too. Be aware on your water too, some water found acid in it, check it's ph. Below ph7 is contains acid already while ph7 and up are with alkaline. Alkaline helps to neutralize the acid in your body. You may try to check on internet for herbal remedies so that you may not be relying on medicines alone. Good luck!
