I used to spend a lot of time in airports in my previous job. Now, to me, airports are possible the dullest places in Earth to have to spend any time. Once you have cleared check in, Passport control all thats is left is the Departure Lounge, and at International airports, the Duty Free stores. So I used to spend the rest of the time spent waiting for departure looking at my fellow travelers. "You see that guy, the one with the YSL polo, bermuda shorts and the Mulberry Gladstone Bag. With the belly and the flip flops. He and his wife, that's her, over there, gold jewellery and too much lipstick. That skirt looks kind two sizes too small, in blue. Yes, that's her. Well he's been doing business in Marbella. Yacht brokerage. They have got a villa there, but she doesn't stay on her own. Likes to keep an eye on him after that incident with the girl from the pole dancing club." Get the idea? Do you make up stories about the people that you see.

LOL Yep I sure do and it's usually people I see when I'm out that I can't stand. I imagine what their miserable lives are like before imagining that they need a foot shoved in their mouth to shut them up. There are some people you just can't help but dream up a story about especially when going on appearance alone.

Boring places are always more fun when you are in the process of making money. I do not make up stories about strangers passing my way. But I do people watch and try to figure out the real story in some people's lives. So I guess in a sense, I do make up stories, because I never know what the real one is.

Yes. I find that I can become totally absorbed by my daydreams. The real story to some of these people is probably quite dull. In my stories they might be African potentates, or lottery winners making their first trip abroad. Happy story making.

lol...no. I usually am too busy to watch people. When I had to wait anywhere before I had kids, I would read...I always carried a book with me. Though I like to watch people and think of what they are (or might be)...well, I can't just watch them without looking like I am staring...so I stopped doing that....I didn't want anyone come up to me and say 'Stop staring at me!'. I would look at one person...and then go into my dreaming world...and my eyes would be in their direction and I wouldn't realize it. So, my book was safer. Now tih kids, my son does the making up story parts (did I tell you he is a miniature me?)...and I keep shushing him lest someone hears. Now, he has started writing stories based on people that he see.

With his confidence, I'm sure he will. I don't stare anymore...lol....travelling with a toddler, I hardly have time to watch anyone besides him!

Nurture and encourage your son. He will be a great man. You do have to be careful that you are not seen to be staring!

I build what they are wearing into the story. But you have given me a new angle now. Perhaps the guy in the trench coat was supplied with his coat by the CIA so that he looks the part on this, his latest mission to save the US from the burrito undead. (It's a long story about the burritos). Love it. Thank you.

I used to love doing things like that and working in a pub it was a great place to practise! Now that I very rarely get out of the house I do miss it and my imagination is getting rusty - maybe I should start again! lol xxx

Sweety i am not totally housebound - I can walk but not very far, I am not allowed to drive cos of the problems with my back and the weakness in my leg but I do get out - I just have to rely on my partner and friends to take me wherever I go! Please don't apologise - in the few days I have been getting to know you you have made me giggle, smile and roar with laughter! lol I still have hopes of building my mobility and getting more relief from the pain - don't write me off yet! xxxx

Written you off. Not a chance. We'll get you dancing yet. And wow, what a pretty daughter you have. I bet you are really proud of her. Love the yellow coat for Easter. Quite took me back to when my own was that age.

Oh I just love people watching and aiports is definately a prime location to do it, in fact if you have ever seen the feel Dogma the opening scene itself at the airport is extremely interesting, the guy getting off the plane being greeted by his girlfriend completely oblivious to the fact that he cheated on her whilst away, naughty boy. I don't actually make up stories but I sometimes see beneath the public front some people put on. The happy couple who you just know the minute they walk through the front door will have a row about how she or he had looked at someone else. The drunk in the corner who you know just won't manage it up the stairs once through their door, that sort of thing. Ellie :D

I know exactly what you mean. I sometime give my "victims" the most ridiculous stories. When I was young my parents used to give a Boxing Day cocktail party. There was one man who always turned up alone. His wife was "ill". The truth was that they argued non stop from one end of the year to the other. She never went to parties. My sister and I used to spend the whole morning making up the row that they would have that would prevent her from coming to the party.

Oh I bet your and your sister had so much fun with that one. I bet she hit him with a turkey leg on Christmas Day or drunk too much baileys and forgot to light the cooker, or he gave her the undies for Christmas that were supposed to be for the mistress! Ellie :D

Not sure that Bailey's existed then but yes, that was exactly the sort of thing.

i didn't travel much so i hardly visit the airport... but i can understand fully what you mean... yes, airport can be the dullest place on earth especially if your flight is delayed and you have to wait for a long time which happens to me once... my flight is delayed for almost 7 hours and it is really annoying me... and the airline won't even give an explanation of what is happening and only give me and my hubby a $10 lunch voucher... it is really annoying...

That must have been very frustrating. But I understand exactly what you mean. Thank you.

No, i never make up stories about anyone i see. It's not a nice thing to do. I've just got a good nature about everyone and never critisize anyone.

Cindy these aren't nasty stories about these people. They are just silly little fantasies. The stories are forgotten as quickly as they are made up. It is just our imaginations running wild. There's no criticism or anything like that. I promise.
