what is the best programming language?

i want to learn a programming language, but ive heard of a few and i want to know which you think is the best one. id like it to be judged on ease of use and learning. any input would be helpful, like some tutorials posted by someone who has used the program and recommends that specific guide.

I think the most powerful language is the C and C++.
But they are not so easy to start.
Also Visual Basic could be a nice language to start.
I think you will start with a language and then switch to many others!

I think VB.NET would be an easier language to learn. But it all depends on what you are wanting to do.
I think VB has easier syntax, and unless you are wanting a really complex program, most people who say c++ is faster, but I do not think you'd notice anything in performance.
