Amsterdam is a lovely city. You should enjoy the fresh local cheese in the Netherlands. I would recommend Bruges in Belgian as a delightful town and you can try some delicious Belgian chocolates there. Paris and London, Rome, Florence and Venice. You are spoiled for choice of beautiful cities. Prague is amazing for its old buildings too, as are many of the eastern capital cities.

When I was doing my degree I had the chance to study in the Netherlands for four months. I went to English Literature classes and went along with lecturers to see students on their teaching practice. I lived in Leeuwarden in Friesland. I got a bike and cycled to nearby villages. I liked Amsterdam, Le Hague and Delft in the Netherlands. I enjoyed going to Anne Franks house and the Corrie Ten Boom house. I popped over to Germany and liked going to Bremen. I went down to Belgium and liked Bruges, Gent and Dinant. I loved going to Luxembourg City and liked the rest of that country as well. My favorite cities in Europe are Prague, Budapest, Dubrovnik and Lisbon. I adored Cesky Krumlov. I think the Netherlands makes a good base for seeing much of Europe by train. I hope that you will have a fantastic time, meet many new friends and see lots of lovely places. The Dutch are so friendly and they are excellent with foreign languages. I met many that could speak fluent English and German.
