My son is 7. His and my stepsons' rooms are upstairs and one full bathroom. Since my room isn't up there I only go up to tuck him in or to collect dirty clothes. I was collecting whte stuff to wash so I noticed the bathroom door was shut I'd better check there. As I opened it up I was hit with the over with the overwhelming stinch of a bowlmovement unflushed in a really warm bathroom. The natural reaction is to cover the mouth and nose and ofcorse I had a armful of dirty socks and undies. was really mad when I realizied I had to breath into dirty socks to kill the odor. I would have strangled him had he been home. Any suggestions? I've used all the threats I could think of.

Your story paints a funny picture in my mind! Those are problems I guess I never had with my kids. They couldn't stand unflushed toilets, and I made sure they always put their dirty clothes in the hamper. My husband suggests you install an automatic flusher. I say you should be glad if this is the worst problem you ever have with your son.

I'm glad I can make you laugh. Just so you know I keep a orderly home just the boys tend to think since they are the ones to live upstairs they can slack. I like the automatic flusher idea, my hubby is a manager of a large Home Improvement store I'm suprised he hasn't brought them home. may be they don't sell them there. They get privledges taken if they don't keep things picked up. I even make them clean their own bathroom but things can get put on the backburn since they have a whole floor to theirselves. I just want them to flush the dang toilet. Thanks.

Start taking things away, no tv, no video games, no music, no computer until he does what he is supposed to. I think when he starts missing his stuff he will remember to flush.

You could try telling him he has to eat his dinner in his bathroom each night for a week. I'll bet that would get him into the habit of flushing. But maybe that's not the best solution, either. It's just the first thing I thought of.
